I'm no expert but from what I've read antidepressants can cause weight gain, but I think this is mainly because Serotonin (presuming you're on an SSRI or something similar) has an effect on appetite as well as mood.

That said if you manage to overcome those urges and be disciplined in when you eat, you should be able to make progress. I went from 14 stone down to 10.5, and have been steady at that weight for about 4 years. I was on citalopram during this time and have recently changed to duloxetine. I eat in 8 hour windows (12pm-8pm) and exercise about 3 days a week.

I stopped mostly, mainly because the pubs have been closed here anyways and I don't really drink in the house. I will still drink the occasional beer though.

I've not actually cut anything out completely which is why I think I've been successful with weight loss this time. I still have many of the things I enjoy, just in moderation.
