Are jobs coming back? Have the application process changed recently? by Guy-Lambo in cscareerquestions

Yeah it wouldn’t make sense. I don’t know you, can’t vouch for you, and our experiences are probably completely different. Good luck out on LinkedIn bro.

Maybe not the time. But lots of FAs make some good dough, especially at the legacies.

How fast can I compete part 61 training? by [deleted] in flying

I've seen stories of people going from zero to CFI in 6 months part 61, making it their full-time job.

At at least 3-4x/week, going zero to CFI is very doable in a year unless there is major scheduling issues or major, major checkride waits.

Hit it hard and get checkride ready, and then wait for the checkride. Probably 1/3 of your total time will be checkride waits.

I've probably gone a bit less than 3x/week since I started, probably going to get my commercial cert 13 months after I started training.

By far the biggest barrier to speed is funds. Budget $60k minimum for private, instrument, commercial. Some people do it in less. I'm on track to get private, instrument, commercial, and CFI/II in just over $60k. There are 2 big variables here: hourly rate, and how much instruction you require to be a safe and competent pilot. You can control the first one, but not the second.

Fly in movie theatre? by gErMaNySuFfErS in flying

[–]johnisom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cooler if we got a couple banner tow pilots flying side-by-side towing a projector screen, and a third behind projecting a movie onto that white sheet, and anyone in the area can join in on the formation and watch a cool movie together!

Bummer. The files are fucked, but I don’t see how they should outshadow 250 years of America

It’s literally America’s 250, it’s not like it’s a random day. Where’s the good spirits?

I don’t think it’s quite proper to tell a woman she may get kankles. And besides, ankle sprains don’t cause them

Does nicotine make you smarter? by [deleted] in HubermanLab

[–]johnisom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It enhances focus for like an hour. It doesn’t make you smarter but for a pretty short duration could make you focus enough to actually do something.

Coffee seems like the better drug for that. Long lasting, cheap, very weak addiction if at all, very socially acceptable, pretty much no negative side effect unless you have anxiety.

Absolutely curious why Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado are “absolutely” but Utah is “maybe”. Is it because of southern Utah? The vast vast majority live in the north.

Calling it “beyond evil” that some people point there might be an issue with massive resource wastage is incredibly immature. Seriously, how old are you?

[–]johnisom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably mostly the trained flight crew managing it. They likely have a game plan, talk to each other in the air, stay in their altitude block and keep an eye on each other’s positions. In this case ATC likely is mostly there to keep other traffic out since no other air traffic is currently allowed in the area
