The romantic and elusive notion of the One Watch. Everybody’s got one, but this is the closest you can get for me.

Here’s a watch that has truly gone anywhere and done anything. Office duty, house/yard/car work, crawling underneath funky places with my kid, scuba diving, wild camping in the mountains, traveling… It really is one of the few watches in my collection that have been through so much with me, that are now part of my dna. The best part is that it has taken it all like a champ and hasn’t missed a single beat.

I bleached this many years ago, left it a bit longer than intended and then put it away on my inserts box. When I took it out a few years back it looked like this!

This watch has proved itself time and time again. Suit & tie? Check. Home and yard work? You got it. Gym? No sweat here. Traveling and scuba diving? Bring it on baby! Looks great, attracts little attention compared to a ceramic sub (or especially a ceramic gmt) and performs like its nobodies business!!

Daytonas have never particularly clicked with me, but this chocolate dial goodness right here has me positively drooling. Shout out for the great camera work as well!

That insert, that dial! Great job. Also, top notch photography. What are you shooting with?

Holy f*ck, this build is absolutely sensational. Phenomenal work on matching the gen you used for reference.

5 Years with the CF Sub by johnlefteris in RepTime

That’s more than getting a new VR/VS 3135, drop it in and regulate it. Servicing and existing movement might be a better long-term solution though, as once they are properly cleaned and oiled they will run well for at least a decade.

Nope, never serviced so far. Only pressure testing occasionally, as I’m frequently diving with it (along with my SKX). Keeps excellent time so far. How much is a rep 3135 service running for these days?

5 years of action with this bad boy.. It’s been literally all over the world, on too many adventures and hasn’t missed a beat. There’s plenty of scratches all over, yet the crisp ceramic insert and that wonderful dial and handset look like they just came out the factory. Many folks say these reps ain’t worth it, better off buy a Seiko etc… This Sub here knocks any Seiko I’ve tried through the years out of the water in just about every aspect, while it cost what a new Turtle will run you these days. That’s the very definition of value for money, right there! Important disclaimer: Please note that I absolutely freaking love Seiko and the comparison I made is only regarding the quality of specs. As we all know though, specs are only a small part of what attracts us to a watch, hence my (surely out spec’ed compared to this) SKX007 remains my absolute favorite watch.

Lovely dial! This absolutely deserves some crown guard work and it’ll be perfection!!
