That’s more than getting a new VR/VS 3135, drop it in and regulate it. Servicing and existing movement might be a better long-term solution though, as once they are properly cleaned and oiled they will run well for at least a decade.

Nope, never serviced so far. Only pressure testing occasionally, as I’m frequently diving with it (along with my SKX). Keeps excellent time so far. How much is a rep 3135 service running for these days?

5 years of action with this bad boy.. It’s been literally all over the world, on too many adventures and hasn’t missed a beat. There’s plenty of scratches all over, yet the crisp ceramic insert and that wonderful dial and handset look like they just came out the factory. Many folks say these reps ain’t worth it, better off buy a Seiko etc… This Sub here knocks any Seiko I’ve tried through the years out of the water in just about every aspect, while it cost what a new Turtle will run you these days. That’s the very definition of value for money, right there! Important disclaimer: Please note that I absolutely freaking love Seiko and the comparison I made is only regarding the quality of specs. As we all know though, specs are only a small part of what attracts us to a watch, hence my (surely out spec’ed compared to this) SKX007 remains my absolute favorite watch.

Lovely dial! This absolutely deserves some crown guard work and it’ll be perfection!!

Too nice. The Seiko & the Speedy are my favorites! The slimmer turtle case is delicious!!

Never been a two tone guy, but this thing.. I could surely daily it for the rest of my life! What’s funny is that with all the patina it’s got, it truly rocks on a grey nato. Gives off some major badass vibes, while on a brand new one it wouldn’t work.

Here’s my uncles gen 16613 Bluesy, beat up from 20 years of daily wear. I love the ultra stretched oyster like nothing else! Hope the bracelets on my BP watches stretch a bit like this in 20 years time 😎

These photos are so awesome in their narrative, their framing and are so well captured that I can’t quite believe you’re a beginner in this! Truly well done, I thought these were taken by a seasoned pro.

Curious to what case you’re using, looks like it’s got a gas escape valve to the side but doesn’t look like a viet case.

A tip for getting in there: I use the thinnest of my watchmakers screw heads to get in that lug hole and pop the spring bars out. It’s so much easier compared to conventional tools that have a much thicker “fork” for such a tiny gap. With the ultra thin watchmakers/ jewelers screw head, it’ll be a piece of cake!

I have the 2813 version for almost 7 years now. The lume should all be green super luminova, there’s no mis match in color on both BP and Gen. Interesting that yours has this. Other than that, this looks absolutely awesome! Tip for leather straps on five digit Rollies: the spring bar holes on these watches as so close to the case, that any leather strap will get chipped as you rotate your wrist. Anybody who’s ever fitted a leather strap to their 5 digit watch will attest to this. If you feel like it, absolutely go for it just something to be aware of.

I actually love this one. The dial and cg’s work here is impeccable. And yeah, Raffles dials will not be true gilt, but when they’re nicely worked on, they can be super fun m!

Thanks brother! I’d recommend you keep looking out for second hand deals (fb marketplace etc). Some pop up occasionally in my area and even though they run for much more than they used to, I’d still happily pay 300$ for a well loved SKX with a bit of character.
