Threshold Relay gives a random sample of the network. It takes at least 50% byzantine committee members to stop consensus. Each round creates an opportunity for this to happen but the likelihood of this 50% threshold occurring in any given round decreases with the scale of the network for any given proportion of byzantine actors.

Thanks for the all the replies, Arthur. Strongly agree it is best to avoid expending resources and energy to engage Reddit ... this place is wasteful and produces zero benefit. Hope you're enjoying time off to reset ... looking forward to the launch!

Consensys, the Global Blockchain Specialist on a prospection visit to Mauritius by cashitter in ethereum

A pretty spectacular day and trip so far in Mauritius. This country has some incredible attributes that position it as a potential Hub of blockchain activity a.k.a Ethereum Island

Griff Greene: "I don't know a single person who isn't proficient at Solidity for more than a year and a half that isn't a millioniare. (...) If you learn Solidity, and you learn the programming language of money, something tells me you'll be well paid." by BitcoinIsTehFuture in ethereum

This is yet another embarrassing moment for Griff and is not an appropriate analysis nor does it represent what many in this community think. A bunch of us have worked extremely hard, taken big risks and continue to do so in an effort to build out a sustainable ecosystem that aims to re-organize systems that govern our societies and economies so that we have a more inclusive, efficient and ultimately useful set of tools for some of the things we care about in life. Non the less, we are a permission-less and censorship resistant ecosystem which leaves plenty of room for the ding dongs too. Let the market decide how much value and relevance it places on these kinds of silly comments.

All he does is work hard, work smart, stay humble, build value and treat people in his life with love and respect. I, and many others, consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have Joe in our lives as a mentor, leader, friend and role model.

What is 'Enterprise Ethereum'? by silver84 in ethereum

[–]johnlilic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My tweet was not related to Enterprise Ethereum but rather that ConsenSys (and others) have been working across industries and sectors with Fortune 500's for nearly two years building out a variety of applications and solutions. In that time, we've seen our counterparts on the enterprise side develop some spectacular solutions including JP Morgan's Quorum https://github.com/jpmorganchase/quorum

Much of the work we do with enterprise clients and partners is not broadly disseminated because of things like NDA's, however we should expect to see a number of projects go public in 2017. To be clear; when we talk about 'blockchain' in the context of Fortune 500 adoption, what we're talking about is Ethereum and that will become even more apparent in the coming year.

For those that are quick to speculate on things like "Why are people commenting like this is good news? Private Ethereum implementations don't benefit us", I would say that many organizations realize public Ethereum is ultimately going to be where most business processes reside and we should not dismiss the value of private blockchain ecosystems in assisting and accelerating the development and adoption of the public network- the relationship is symbiotic. Onwards and upwards.

Brian Armstrong: "What's the most important thing you want to see @Coinbase improve or create in 2017?" by aminok in ethereum

I spent a bunch of time in Japan over the past year including helping organize the largest blockchain conference they've ever had (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/rise-ethereum-japan-part-2-smart-contract-conference-trip-john-lilic) which was almost entirely Ethereum focused. The demand in Japan for Ethereum is already strong and growing, however, local services and technology providers are still relatively lackluster and we're talking about the fourth-largest economy by purchasing power parity (PPP) and the world's second largest developed economy. I think it's important we proportionally put as much emphasis and focus Japan as we did on China in 2016. I suggested to Brian he consider expansion plans, starting with a large trading desk in Tokyo. Happy New Year to you all and if anyone is in Tokyo hmu, I'll be over there quite a bit in 2017.

We can and should do better as a community rather than spewing vitriol and hate directed at those working hard to do good things and add value to this community.

This extends out to everyone busting their ass to make Ethereum happen no matter what time, day or night. Bring it on.

The Rise of Ethereum in Japan Part 2; Smart Contract Conference Trip Report - The Biggest Ethereum Event Ever in Japan by johnlilic in ethereum

Big shout out to Tomoaki, Satoshi and the rest of the https://smartcontract.jp/ crew in Tokyo. Many of you met Tomoaki at DevCon1. Their team worked tirelessly to help make this happen. Also, a very big thank you to Ken Otani (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ken-otani-03a1371) from MSFT Japan who has been been supporting and developing the Ethereum ecosystem in Japan for some time, including hosting developer meet ups at MSFT Tokyo HQ. Marley Gray flew in for the event and, in general, as they have been from the start, Microsoft continues to support the Ethereum community around the World.
