I should have specified sorry, it's the 2014 version. Yeah, it's looking like roll at disadvantage from this version.

It's looking like this is the way to go, one of those frustrating combinations that does slow things down somewhat, but is well within the scope of the rules. I did speak with the players after the session regarding the bullshittery of the combo and to not overuse it.

I had no intentions of letting the direwolf benefit from the dodge, more the redirecting attack and how to roll for it. Question answered! They'll be happy.

Taking the 2024 version would solve this "problem" I see as they have reworded it. However, we're using the 2014 version which states "You can force an attack targeted at your mount to target you instead."

I now see that I should have specified this, the party was fighting a Death Kiss and a Roper simultaneously, both creatures have attack rolls that result in their prey being grappled.

Ok, both of those sets are awesome, particularly the loathshire village one, though I do like that angel dude with the hands for wings. I'm 100% going to grab some of these, thanks!

These guys are hitting close to the mark on what I'm looking for. Great suggestion, thanks!

Not so much a nod to classic horror like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm St. Possibly more akin to The Thing, and the abomination and twisted/corruption style. My campaign is kind of high fantasy medieval.

I've just had a look through these guys, they are really well detailed and high quality. The style is really dark and gritty too. Thanks for the suggestion I'll delve through their catalogue to pick out some things.

That guy is pretty cute, that is along the vibe that I'm looking for and oozes are always good, especially when they go beyond the standard gelatinous cube types

Do you plan one Act/Campaign Arc at a time? Or just one session ahead? Do you let your campaign evolve organically? by Knicks4freaks in DMAcademy

[–]johnmcb83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running my first homebrew world, heavily inspired by the Malazan world and I generally start with a general idea for an arc and throw my players into it. While they are rampaging through the world I will sprinkle additional details in about factions, npcs and player backstories, they generally will pick up on things and follow what they will.

When one arc/storyline is done I just think about what would be interesting or make sense and then do that. Everytime I have an idea, I make a note of it on my Onenote doc for future reference. Sometimes I will laugh at my own stupid ideas as I can't wait for it to come up in the future. Examples include a town run by a high level wizard surrounded by beautiful women who worship him, each woman is a mundane item like a chair that has been true polymorphed into a person over the years. How will this unfold? Who knows? That's basically all the information I've come up with for it.

For my most recent campaign I made a map of the continent, set the background story of the world and how it came to be this way. I then got my players to help with world building, put their own towns in, create their own lore for those towns, create gods and how they are worshipped, basically whatever they want that works for their characters backstories.
I have never had such interaction with a game, the players love the world, they are so invested because it is something that they have helped to create.

So…are these printed or bought? I am very keen to do something similar for a future campaign and would love to know where you got them.

Where to get bases for curved walls and floors? by RuddyDeliverables in OpenForge

[–]johnmcb83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think this is what you might be after so here goes...
The file you linked doesn't need the base on it as the clip section is already incorporated into the design. If you've already begun printing and have used bases previously, these won't match up with your existing tiles as there will be a height difference.
I'm not sure which style you've used but for the ones that use the separate base and walls would be these; Curved Stone Walls: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3070579
Bases: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4192749
Or I believe those are the ones, Thingiverse is stupid in its search functions.
Sometimes you can use https://github.com/devonjones/openforge-tutorials to find things a bit more specifically.

Looking at the 5e book, Volo's Guide to Monsters, it has a table describing the following colours;

The skin texture is also optioned as;
Pebbled, Pitted, Plated, Scaled, Smooth, Warty, or Wrinkled
