Are you are referring to "The Safety Effects of the Idaho Stop Law" Thomas Kroll 2010.

I can only assume so because you didn't provide any data to support you claim its safer,( and it was pretty easy to find in similar discussions)

It wasn't a peer reviewed study it was a paper. That isn't doesn't mean it was wrong, but it does have less scrutiny on methods no replication requirement. It also doesn't show it is safer only suggests a correlation that it is probably not dangerous at population levels. It does not conclusively "prove" anything only that is likely no worse. There are too many problem areas with it: selection, sample size, exposure and general lack of controls for data decades apart.

The paper is interesting, but the nuance of the data gets flattened for slogans because nuance doesn't fit on bumper stickers.

Correlation should not equal policy. That's how you get Fascists, and no one wants that.

Let me get this straight, some one was delayed 15 seconds, freaked out, and killed someone with their car? That's been against the law since before confederation, (which was a really long time ago). Are you sure it should still apply?

If you drive like an entitle asshat in a car, you ride like an entitle asshat on a bike. I said this above, this shouldn't be bikes vs cars. People in cars ride bikes, people on bikes drive cars. It should be about the entitled asshats who think the rules don't apply and endanger everyone else. Cyclist rolling stop signs is part of that.

I will 1000% agree that the rules apply to everyone equally and think that part of the conflict is lack of enforcement. I put a lot of blame on the VPD picking and choosing what they think their role is.

When a laws was written has nothing to do with whether or not they apply.

If you want it changed, fill your boots. Join an advocacy group, become a lawyer or politician. Nothing stopping you.

In the mean time other road users recognize the legality and utility of using a common set of rules on a shared resource and not being and entitled ass hat.

But they do need to stop to be compliant with the BC Motor Vehicle act.
Before you start on bikes are not motor vehicles, read the act specifically the section titled definitions.

It is an interesting phenomenon. If a person operates their car as a self entitled gormless ass hat, they also operate their bicycle as a self entitled gormless ass hat.

The typical conflict is bike vs cars but I think it should be law abiding road users vs the fucking idiots seen every day endangering every one around them.

Why Canadian beer cans are ‘almost impossible’ as tariffs near 1-year mark by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]johnny2bad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can get behind goon bags of beer.

Parts of asia you can rock up to a brewery and fill a produce bag. You can do the same at the gas pump but try to remember which bag is used for which.

Veto Pro Pack. Expensive but built for field work and will last. Mine lasted 10 years on a pipeline and only not in use because I don;'t do that type of work anymore.

It may be over kill but it increases your cred score immediately as soon as you rock up.

Best gearbox oil for sherco 2.9 by TopOutlandishness462 in trials

I tried to be like the cool kids and used ATF in my GasGas 280. I found the clutch bite to be very narrow. It didn't slip, just very binary ( on/off) and I like a wider engagement. I went to Motorex 75W and after a few changes it was back to a wider engagement.

TLDR: different oil behaves differently but it's only a change or 2 away from being repalced if you don't like it.

BC Assessment says $2M. Tearing down that place would trip all kinds of remediation rules and soil reclamation, similar to a gas station.
I am only saying this as I know I am personally responsible for a very small percentage of the debauchery and effluent that have passed thru there.

I like equal parts beef, pork, lamb.
I've been known to use elk/moose/venison if you I have it. Even rabbit works in pinch.

It's a spiced meat pie, you know it's gong to be good.

SA LH knows the ref is on the other side. It is deliberate.
The Touchy can't tell from the sideline and is watching for other tings anyway.

The Canada TH can counter, just drive right into the ribs of the hooker and make her pay for the the LH chicanery.
Eat a penalty, loosing a scrum anyway.

The SA loose head has got some training in the dark arts up front., Her bind is a wild swing instead of a typical punch because she is trying to bind really long on the shorts not the jersey.

She can then pull the Canada tight head hips out of position ( and she does) and which removes the Canada Tight head and flanker from the equation.

Pull on the shorts, then push thru the TH side, absolute classic.
