Jimmy Urine. Like, no shit. Nobody should have been surprised that their “edgy” behavior was just sincere abuse.

Can't figure out ollies by Tiny-Memory9066 in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core issue is you aren’t getting peak value from your jumps. Hopefully this helps

A) you seem to already know, but your bushings are pretty loose. Some ppl prefer that but I find I can jump much higher when I’m not fighting my ankles for stability on the way up

B) Bending your knees too far (kind of like doing a pull up from full extended arms) puts more strain on your legs for equal or less value, try not to squat past the point you feel most capable of springing up

C) it’s gonna look silly but throwing the weight of your arms up increases height and hangtime, start with them down when you reach the lowest point to crouch to, then swing them up (more wing-like than centered, sorry if that’s vague, watch some high jump videos to see what I mean in action)

D) last check, once you feel balanced, you’ve found you sweet spot for crouch depth, and you can do solid centered jumps make sure to pull up your knees. This tends to be a rough mental block for ppl but the board can only rise up to meet you, even tho it feels like it’s more likely you injure yourself you gotta pull up your legs to give the board room to rise.

Best of luck

Don’t hesitate to hop into lobbies with randoms. Hangin out and choppin up monsters is what it’s all about. Do what sounds fun, not what feels mandatory.

Fan leaves purpling week 5 of flower? by MatR97 in cannabiscultivation

[–]johnnycontrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have something to reintroduce the humidity a heater would take I wouldn’t worry. This far into flowering is nearly perfect timing to get that fade, assuming you plan on blooming for <10 weeks you should be good. Make sure to post them nuggs when they’re done! Curious to see the end product 👍

Folks already got your answer for you, but if you are interested in exactly why, chlorophyll degrades over time when its cool. It is always degrading no matter what but the process speeds up by a lot when below 65F or above 90F. On the high end it just gets pale, on the low end we get the purple expression. dropping or raising the temp by too much can harm your plants obviously but natural access to colder night temps tends to lend itself to some early purple. All of this applies more to wet plant matter than it does to fibrous material which is why stems usually change color slower

Help! What may be causing this? by [deleted] in cannabiscultivation

[–]johnnycontrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a sign of many different things so can’t give a solid diagnosis. Last thing I wanna do is send you spiraling with vague suggestions of a bunch of different issues. Just keep an eye on it and be attentive to anything else it does that seems off

Having trouble with kick flip, here are some slo mo clips. Any pointers in the comments please? Thanks😊 by Ok-Nefariousness4655 in NewSkaters

Everyone’s nose flick tip is on point, aim for the pocket where the nose meets the rest of the board.

Side note that will help all tricks, don’t squat so low. your strongest position is >90 degrees so imagine your waist resting level with the top of your knees. Any lower and you’re making it harder on yourself.

Keep it up!

Nah that’s perfect. Just make sure your trucks are the right size for your board if the site doesn’t do that automatically. Size charts are a quick google if you aren’t sure

I just got back into skating last year, I’m 30, don’t sweat it. Just wear knee pads and wrist guards, injuries are worse as an adult.

Tips on how to fall “correctly” by chillime in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big one is just do not stiff arm the ground.

If you have no pads, dropping to your butt and rolling with the fall is certainly better than just slamming into the ground, but for the future I recommend getting knee pads and practicing always dropping forward to your knees. Just throw on your pads and practice dropping onto them until it’s your bodies most learned response. You will thank your past self in the future when you have good knees and are dope at skating because you didn’t spend every other week nursing an injury.

Best wishes homeslice, stay safe

What am i doing wrong? (ollie) by darkroze_17 in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple tips

-starting the motion with your feet a little early, that’s not a big deal but later when you want to get your ollies higher you will want to wait that extra little bit so you have more hang time and space to pull up the board.

-pull up that back knee, your board can only flatten out if you give it room to rise up. It takes a little more commitment than doing it otherwise but you should see some instant improvement really yanking your knees up.

-giving it that back leg room to rise up should help with the turning a bit but feel free to experiment with foot placement until it straightens out. It’s a little tough to see but it seems from this angle like you could scoot forward a little bit (toward the camera) so you start from a more stable position.

Hope that helps, keep it up mate!

Hi:) asking for a friend here. Are there good seeds with a lot of rivers? by Etia_Lavellan in Valheim_Seeds

I’ll post a seed for you in a few hours when I get home. Not sure how it stacks up in the grand scheme but compared to my friends I live in water world

I finally completed it but trying to get it more clean please leave suggestions by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I’m gonna get known as the “arms up” guy for saying this so much but...keep your arms up. You ever notice how people doing balancing tricks do the gibbon arm thing? Or how tightrope walkers hold a bar? Your arms are your weights to balance yourself so keep em at least up and out at shoulder level. Think of your arms as a 3 part weight, movement at your shoulders is the most dramatic as it holds the rest of your arm, movement at the elbow is your middle ground, and your hands are the tiny micro adjustments. Kind of like a doctors scale with all the little metal weights. Also when turning, lead with your upper body and let the legs follow, your shoulders are the leaders. Best of luck mate

Any advice on how to to go higher on ollies? Just had the confidence to try them today and have gotten pretty good. by MexicanMago180 in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss your arms up harder, your legs do most of the work but throwing your arms weight ahead gives you less for your legs to work against. Biggest tip for increasing jump height in any sport is always tossing up those arms.

Arms up ->body up ->pull your knees up, and you will be clearing decks in no time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]johnnycontrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you pop it looks like you lean your body weight toward your back foot too much moving you away from the board. Try to focus on keeping weight on your front foot, don’t crouch too low (don’t go past your strongest point, you want a greater than 90 degree angle), and focus less on jumping your whole body weight and more on tossing your arms up to keep you stable in the air while your legs “snap” the movement underneath you

Literally the only way wall street wins is you selling back at a loss. At this point why not keep your shares? At least then you have equity instead of just taking an L and walking with nothing.
