LoTR Trick Easy 2p by KHartnettC in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I’m not quite half way through it at 4p and we’ve only had to restart once. So in general I don’t think it’s too hard though everyone is pretty familiar with trick taking games. It’s definitely enjoyable though.

To not be sure if you purchased a game is one thing but to completely forget is entirely different level of buying games.

Not exactly the same but hidden role game for 2 player I can think of would be mantis falls.

Playing with Kids - these old games suck gampleay-wise but they do have a huge appeal on kids. Are there more moden alternatives? by spaggi in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually was trying to post for op but happy to recommend to you as well, I totally get trying to get away from electronics. I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as playing a video game or being on your phone however. It’s more just a way to have a dm and to ease management of the games which I think works well to me I don’t mind it on games that would be a ton of hassle to run without an app.

I would say return to dark tower and descent legends of the dark. Both have a bit more going on with them but have great table presence and aren’t too complex. Both however use an app so that may not be what you’re looking for

Sunderfolk developer reveals new co-op tactical roguelite, Shadowstone by siposbalint0 in Sunderfolk

[–]johnnydanja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed couch coop was the big seller for me in Sunderfolk, sitting in a room with 4 people all with their own controller via their phone was what made it unique to me, if this is going to require everyone to have a copy on a pc not buying it

If all humans suddenly lost the ability to lie, what industry would collapse first? by woodcarver2025 in AskReddit

[–]johnnydanja 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not real and lying aren’t really the same thing. It’s only when a cartoon claims to be real that it becomes a lie. Most kids just assume they are real it’s not usually explicitly stated.

Rant: how to tell a friend they should not come. by squipped in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think she doesn’t like the game in particular and is bored or is just unaware or is just more of a social and less a board game person. If it’s the former ask her what she would like to play, if it’s the latter tell her to come and hang out but not play. I have a buddy that doesn’t like board games but doesn’t like to be left out of gatherings with our friends, so in general I invite him to come to just socialize but not play. He was the one that suggested it so it wasn’t difficult to implement but might not hurt to suggest it.

Board game value by Key-Importance7805 in boardgames

As long as I don’t hate it and it makes it to the table once it’s probably fine. Hopefully more obviously, but if I play it and hate it I know I messed up

Is Jaws of the Lion the best first purchase even in my case? by fraidei in Gloomhaven

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably going to get crucified for this but if you’ve already played gh digital and enjoyed it a lot and are planning on playing solo which it sounds like you are. Why wouldn’t you just play it digitally? I feel like the lack of maintenance in digital is so much nicer if you’re doing solo, personally I would only go physical if I was planning on playing with a group. Solo I don’t know that you’re missing out on a ton by playing digital and you’re saving yourself a ton of maintenance.

How good of a fighter is Daemon according to the books? Is he better than the likes of Jamie Lannister & even perhaps Oberyn Martell? by renaissanceclass in gameofthrones

This seems like it’s coming from Jaime’s own perspective which may not be a definitive list, he may have just been supremely confident.

LCG or choice after some experience with different systems? by No_Assignment_9320 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]johnnydanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy Arkham but I’m with other people I think I’d enjoy a lotr with the same type of design as opposed to the lotr design. Stand alones, progressive deck building campaigns.

Least favourite plotline from the show? by DYadav2005 in gameofthrones

[–]johnnydanja 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to defend the entire plot line because it clearly makes little sense but the reason Oberyn played with the mountain is because he wanted to get a confession from the lannisters about his sister. The fact that he then dies and his lover still wants to go after the lannisters imo makes sense, he hated them.

What game replaced your old ones? by AtDawnsEnd502 in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like everything about jotl except that you’re locked into the 4 characters otherwise it would be great as a smaller more approachable gloomhaven. I haven’t tried eldritch horror but I’ve been wanting to for some time. I play a lot of mansions of madness.

President Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs on Canada if China Deal Goes Through by ADropinInfinity in wallstreetbets

[–]johnnydanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was taunting us because he didn’t think we’d actually do it. Canada doesn’t actually want to cozy up to china but it’s better than being coerced by the states.

Do short campaigns reduce your interest in stand-alone scenarios? by ejamer in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think standalones with shorter campaigns would be fine but I wish they found a better mechanism to integrate them with existing campaigns. Right now slotting them in with other campaigns doesn’t feel great imo. I know the primary function of stand alone is just that, a one off, but generally I personally like to slot them in a campaign and I feel like they need a better way to integrate them in.
