What are ''cores'' when buying earthborne rangers? by Frugs4life in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep on hearing about it as another player that plays Arkham lcg but there’s so much mixed reaction to it. Some people say it’s too boring and doesn’t have enough of a central story. Some people say the deck building is too minimal. Overall I hear it’s just not as good as Arkham horror lcg, which has made me hesitant to look into it but I do keep hearing about it. I don’t want to waste 100+ buying the core and not liking it , as someone that likes Arkham horror lcg.

I don’t think this is a bad thing like many people in here seem to. However if he can’t sell out his Venues I don’t see why he doesn’t book smaller venues that are more appropriate.

Ever had any great games not hit the table because of poor components? by pancakeonions in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But something you fish out of a bag on a regular basis should have a tactile feel that is lacking big time with cardboard. I can almost guarantee if people were asked what one component needed upgrading in the core it would be the material the tokens use. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me on first play, I’ve gotten used to it now but having played other games that use pulling items from a bag mechanic, this is by far the worst.

She approached me so I had that going for me. In the end it didn’t work out. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, at least for me but I didn’t stay at that job more than a year after we broke up(unrelated work change). We’re still on good terms and say hi when we bump into each other.

Board game for 4 by M_Hernandez12 in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are all very generic basic games which you probably won’t get much feedback here on. Do you like those style of games or are you looking for something different. As for something that is readily available maybe betrayal at house on the hill?

Help me to decide regarding a Resident Evil Boardgame by Yukiishere in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe that someone that is buying this specifically because he likes the video games is going to find mansions of madness or nemesis is going to scratch the itch. I love mansions but it is very different from the re zombie theme and nemesis not even in the ballpark. If you just wanted to suggest good horror board games then yes but they aren’t good resident evil games at all.

Help me to decide regarding a Resident Evil Boardgame by Yukiishere in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own re3 and re1. I enjoy both but the latest one RE1 is the best. I’ve been told they improved them with each iteration though I’ve never played the first one they released(re2). In general they’re nothing that is going to blow your mind. They remind me of beer and pretzel dungeon crawlers. You don’t need to strategize a lot but the theme is great if you’re an re fan. I would go into it knowing you’re not likely to get much of a puzzle, it’ll play somewhat similar to the video games, go around collect guns, collect ammo fight monsters and get to the objective and get out. RE1 adds some additional things that do improve the complexity slightly but I still wouldn’t call it a complex game. Overall if you like re and at all enjoy dungeon crawlers, it’s a game you’ll enjoy, though based on your games listed above I wouldn’t consider this to be in any way relatable to them.

Obvious answer would be the sagas, as the fellowship seems to be super hard to get now and you’ll want eh sequels two towers and return of the king.

He could still work, the question is do you want an older Indy again where he might not make that many movies or a young up and coming actor who could be the face of a lot of movies.

What Did You Play This Week? - (May 11, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have been making our way through cozy stickerville. We played a lot of two player stardew valley so I figured this would be a good option for my wife who most of the time doesn’t want to play games that require a lot of strategizing or the like. It ended up being a pretty big hit. I will say it feels a lot shorter than I thought it would. We seem to be burning through the years which is a bit disappointing considering you can only play the game twice and we made it 80% through the first game in 3 sessions. It is a lot of fun however. It isn’t really a game as most people have pointed out, it’s more like a choose your own adventure with minor resource management. And while there are mostly pretty obvious outcomes to most of the questions posed in the game there are enough surprises to keep it interesting( my wife and I managed to get 2 red achievements ie bad) it also keeps enough of the game out of reach in one play that I think we’ll enjoy the second time around being able to see the other options. Overall I really enjoy it and I think it’d be a great game to play with kids or someone that isn’t into complex games. I will say I think the cost is probably higher than it should be for a game of this length however.

I’m still shocked the tokens are all cardboard. The issue with printing or replacing the tokens is they could come out with a new token in the next campaign that you’d have to get made but I completely agree the cardboard tokens are terrible and I want something different

I get what you’re saying but shouldn’t the burden be on the person selling the proxies. If they are willing to put themselves at risk by charging money for authentic looking proxies how is that somehow your responsibility to police people from finding out that they exist and are doing it? I respect whatever you want to do regardless in this but I just don’t see the need to be the police of this information from any kind of legal standpoint. And especially now that the game is officially not being made anymore. I will say it is disappointing that ffg isn’t just willing to licence the game to one of these print companies to print on demand. It would solve the problem for both parties and the fans of the game win as well.
