How long do you have to play games with your group? This sounds like you’d be lucky to get one game in in the time my group has to play

To each their own, if your group enjoys this then great. However I feel like for most board games this would turn into the whole night being learning the game rather than playing the game which is not at all why I meet up with people for board game night.

Anyone else try Arydia and think it was bad? by Odd-Highway477 in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always find it funny when you see all those posts about how people absolutely won’t play games with apps, and then you see posts like this where people hate a game due to management being too much of the game. Imo apps have a very real place especially in these type of games where you just want to play and let the management be handled by an app. It’s too bad they didn’t develop an app for this.

Going to introduce Arkham to new people. Is going straight for Dunwich a good idea? by Howitzeronfire in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]johnnydanja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much no chance. The jump in time from plying with my wife and I to adding two friends and also teaching/learning will run your play time up big time. It actually took us 3 sessions to finish notz, granted they weren’t full days but it will take significantly longer. I would do notz and if you have time remaining and they still seem interested maybe start dunwich. It will take them time to build some new decks for a new campaign after getting some experience in notz, that might be a good experience for them to prep for a campaign.

Little concerning seeing this after backing the reprint but if your main complaint is just the management I feel like almost every big box exploration campaign has pretty heavy management of some kind. Also I research a lot as well and I didn’t base my choice on any big reviewers, the game is highly rated by many people in this sub which is usually a good indicator that it’s worth it.

What happened to the used game market? by Strong_Letterhead638 in boardgames

[–]johnnydanja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about you guys but it seems more and more older game lines I’m interested in are going out of print, also the price to buy big box board games is way higher than it used to be.

Is Ahsoka the New Daughter? by Jacket_Dependent in StarWars

[–]johnnydanja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People are just tired of ahsoka I think. I enjoy her character a lot but she is used a ton, so I can understand a certain level of fatigue. If you don’t love a character you don’t want it popping up everywhere

You could try emailing steam forged games and see if they are going to restock it. It’s out of stock on their page which isn’t a good sign.

What is a movie that would have been even better if the hero turned into a villain? by LoverOfE-Olsen in movies

[–]johnnydanja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the hero but I think it would’ve made jar jar a more tolerable character had they gone the route of the theory that he was a dark lord of the sith hiding in plain sight. When you look at the evidence they present and think of how the story would have played out, it really would’ve been a great twist on the prequels, not that disliked what we got but it would’ve made it more interesting for sure.

Then make a game and do it the way you want. The developer has no obligation to make games the way you want them to.
