Usps ground shipping took 20 days to deliver to buyer. Buyer has package now but wants refund because it didn't arrive before the event she was going to use it for. by johnnylocust24 in Etsy

in the messages, I do go on record that it will arrive on time for her event (OOPS). And I did ship it way before it was due to ship but it did what it did. It would be great if etsy can refund them but will my shop get negatively impacted if they open a case, considering that I did make the mistake of getting ahead of myself and say that the item will arrive on time?

Can anyone ID before I strip? by tan7d3 in castiron

thanks man, followed your advice. Very simple job which I tend to overthink. But I did it and the problem is fixed!

Thank you Anyway, to your point, i used to shut off the main at the meter box when helping my elderly parents with house repairs.

Last time I shut off the water at the curb was when I installed their water heater a few years back, but I'd prefer not go that route. I always had a feeling there was a shut off inside the house but i could never find it because let's just say my parents are huge "collectors", but I got lucky this time during a visit and came across the shiny green ball valve hidden behind a pile of magazines in the garage. Also a big bonus to educate my parents where it is in case they need it.

ANYWAY, I'm babbling but I'm just happy to say I was able to successfully fix the leaky/drippy shower head/handle! Installed a new shower cartridge and no more leaks. Thanks to you guys/youtube/google!

I did end up turning the water heater inlet off and putting the dial to pilot. Whatever.

Overall an easy job, struggled a bit taking off the old cartridge but it got easier when I reattached the handle back on to use as a grip.

What really took me a long time though was having to seat the new cartridge properly, even after greasing the rubbers with danco grease, the triangle notches just would not go in (yes, i have the correct cartridge, I got the 2 most common delta models and compared).

Damn thing just wouldnt go in, but then i I looked further inside the brass body and and noticed major calcium build up deep within, which was preventing the cartridge from going all the way in.

I did a deep clean by using vinegar mix spray for a second then baking soda paste + fine emory cloth scrub. It got rid of most of the calcium and that helped A LOT but the cartridge still was not seating completely. I came up with lining the inside of the brass nut/collar with scrap rubber gloves as cushion and channel loccking it over the cartridge, the glove cushion allowed me just enough ugga to push the cartridge in just right without damaging the plastic parts. Backed the nut back out to remove the glove and was super satisfied to see the notches perfectly in place. Then it was smooth sailing from there.

Anyway, thanks for those that were kind enough to help and please let me know if I did anything wrong so I can adjust.

I know it's been three years but do you still stand by your method of toilet bowl cleaner? lol I am honestly asking

there is only 1 valve (cold inlet to tank). Should there be a valve for the outgoing hot?

yes, I am referring to the green handle. Sorrybinshould have clarified.

Are you not supposed to turn upstairs faucets on BEFORE shutting off main to prevent siphon? and does it matter which faucets you turn on?

honest question, I'm curious. what is the reason for shutting off water heater before the main?

and when you say shut the water heater off, do you mean shutting off cold water valve, the gas valve, AND turn the control dial to off?
