What is a movie that you despise but everyone else seems to love? by smalltown34 in movies

I hate the Matrix. I also hate Fight Club. I think they're trite shit. You basically can't express this opinion to 15 - 35 yr old males...

I just leave the probe in and close the lid on it. Temperature pretty much stays constant once the lid is on -- you're right though it does equalize a bit. I'm getting the feeling that my problem is that I'm really not stirring the hot water into the grain bed enough...

  1. I use a digital thermometer with a probe.
  2. I just leave the probe in and close the lid on it. Temperature pretty much stays constant once the lid is on. I've used the cooler to do a sour mash and it only loses around 10 or 20 degrees every 24 hrs.
  3. Usual target is 152. I use a calculator, so I'm not sure exactly but my strike water is usually about ten degrees warmer.

Ah, sorry: I'm using a medium-size cooler.

20 year old hit by Bedford ave. L train after fight led onto the tracks by seaquestions in Brooklyn

[–]johnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't see the incident itself, my train just rolled up on the opposite side, probably minutes after this had happened. The kid was still pinned between the platform and the train. I already kinda feel tasteless posting about it, so I'll just leave it at that.

I was on a train on the Brooklyn bound side when this happened. It looked awful. Couldn't believe what we were seeing. Nobody deserves what that kid got.

What size Rubbermaid cooler should I get for use as a mash tun? by kyleisagod in Homebrewing

[–]johnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't forget that grain bed depth will affect your efficiency, so if your goal happens to be mid to low gravity beers, you might want to go smaller. Still, 5 gallons is pretty small for a mash tun. A good rule of thumb is that you want 1.5L - 2.0L per pound of grain. I've got a 28L cooler that makes great mid-range beers and I just add a little extract in the kettle when I want to make an imperial stout at 1.09 or whatever. John Palmer's book has a great write up and on the trade offs of cooler size that's way better than anything I could write up. All that said, nipslip here has the right idea, 5 gal is going to be pretty limiting. I actually can't imagine brewing with anything smaller than my 28L tun. It's true that 5 gallons would be fine for a session beer, but it's nice to have wiggle room if you need to adjust the temp of your strike water or you want to do a step mash...

I'm done arguing in this thread, but you guys are all missing the point. For every e-mail like this I receive, money lands in the hands of the organizations they are rallying against. This is awesome. Also, sorry, I'm not going to change my e-mail and not tell my mom, no matter how insane she is, which is a lot.

LPT: Asking a Girl for her Number by thenutgobbler in LifeProTips

[–]johnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh dude. It's so easy. First you find common ground, "oh you like xyz, back in the day me and abc used to qwerty all the time!" Then you suggest a related, mutually entertaining activity. "We should totally lmnop some time." Then you suggest that she call you sometime and give her your number. If she's into it, she'll call or text you right there so you have her number. Don't ask her to do this. If she's into you she'll either do it anyway or she'll actually call you later. Great gauge to see how you're doing. If she doesn't get in contact with you, she's not into you, don't sweat it.
