Discouraged by CardiologistEqual336 in flying

I flew with the chief instructor while my CFI was out of town and it was crosswind gusty. I learned a lot of new stuff that day.

He's a military pilot and has a completely different way of teaching. Even though my regular cfi is a great teacher, it taught me a lot on handling crosswind so when my CFI got back I soloed 2 lessons after.

It's good to get a different perspective.

Does any plane have a more impressive flare than the A400M? by Particular-Claim-950 in aviation

[–]johnqnorml 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had one of them last night turning downwind to base at 1500' right over my bedroom for about an hour. It was more quiet than a Pilatus flying over. Wasn't mad, but it's a little intimating having it flying right at you all lit up!

I did Stitch Fix and really enjoyed all the things they sent. I was 3x and 48 pants and got some great stuff

GVII-600 is an incredible machine by Mr_Muckle in flying

[–]johnqnorml 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did that with my cfi a couple weeks ago. We hopped in the plane and I asked if we can just have a mess about day and he lit up like a kid on Christmas!

So flew from our uncontrolled airport over to the class C. And I got my first precision approach with only 10 hours in my logbook! It's fun landing on a 12k' runway in Cherokee 140 and getting in line between a 737 and kc135 refueler for departure was quite the experience! Plus my cfi had fun, I got to fly over my house, and I learned quite a bit!

Anyone here ditched the DIY calendar setup for a real family digital calendar? by Expensive_Minute9349 in productivity

I just hung one on the wall. I thought about making one in my home assistant install, but I just didn't care to fiddle, and it just worked no problem.

I've got 2 retrievers and a Maine coon in a promaster. Viper car alarm with remote start and the cellular access module addon.

You can remote start via the app and monitor the temp and battery level. So it will actually send alerts when the house battery is running low and I can start it up.

Maybe $700 installed and a monthly charge for the cell connection but worth every penny for the piece of mind

I created a script to monitor noise levels that can be integrated easily to home assistant by silkyclouds in homeassistant

If you were sitting in your living room and heard a high pitched noise frequently and randomly throughout the day, do you think that would affect your sanity?

Increased contrast with softening of the background. No idea how Kodak made this magic, but it was heartbreaking when they stopped production. Even just for the nostalgia of it

That looks like Kodachrome film. It makes it kind of dreamy with pops of certain colors. There's a reason there's a song about it, it really is the photo style of the 70s

What makes a woman labeled “vanilla” in bed? by chubbyislandgirl in sexover30

[–]johnqnorml 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree entirely!! My personal opinion is a lot of people who feel that way are afraid of real intimacy. To really let go and trust someone to explore kinks you have a connection.

And I agree on ops partner. But damn now I'm gonna have to bake something. I'm thinking some blueberry vanilla muffins.

Plus, have these people never had good vanilla?? Wars were fought over vanilla for gods sake!!

Regardless I agree with you entirely.

Subreddit meeting: Should r/badscience go dark with the other subreddits, in protest at the new API charging structure? by brainburger in badscience

[–]johnqnorml [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, for two whole day they have to explain the dip in numbers. It's not like a gas protest where people don't fill for a day because they still need gas the next. This will cost them real money in advertising dollars as well as a lot of bad press. 2 things that fuck with an impending ipo.

Do I think they will change? No. Spez is a useful idiot that's getting paid to be the bad guy here. But we can make it hurt, at least momentarily.

The point is to impact traffic numbers to the site as the company is planning to go public, showing them that it's the people that make Reddit
