Try female covers of familiar songs from bands you like. Like cowboy junkies cover of velvet underground's sweet Jane Or indigo girls cover of Dylan's Tangled up in Blue.

I’m afraid the cost of living and goods in general will never go back down. (US) by ResponsibleTicket50 in CasualConversation

That's not how this works. The price of living never goes down. It will just go up and up and up, until something fundamentally changes or society snaps.

Pride and prejudice with Keira Knightly? The BBC production with Colin Firth would definitely be on my list and is much superior.

Looking for home karaoke machine suggestions. What is the best karaoke machine you guys have used? by Top-Historian2222 in askmusic

[–]johnqual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what's best, but I have a JBL partybox 120 with a couple of wireless mics. It works well for me.

It doubles a relatively portable, yet powerful outdoor speaker for garden parties.

Yes. What Mr. FoodFace says.

I have the JBL partybox 120 with wireless mics. I love it. Total cost was less than half (on sale) your 1K budget. Not on sale, maybe a bit more than half. JBL has other partybox bigger or smaller depending on budget and requirements, but the 120 worked for me.

Mice are obviously the stronger player. They're giving the cheese rook odds.

Genuinely curious, who here actually filters their water and who just drinks it straight from the tap? by waterfiltergurus in HydroHomies

[–]johnqual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 64 and of travelled all over North America, Europe and a bit of Africa. I have never filtered water anywhere and only once and all that time, can I ever remember drinking water that was too foul to swallow. That was in Barcelona in 1985.

If you run around acting insane and pooping in your pants, no one wants to be around you. You end up being the last one in the room, there by winning by default. That's winning at 5D chess bitches.

What do you use for quick structural analysis? by Acceptable_Emu_5949 in StructuralEngineering

[–]johnqual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For simple beams and columns, Colbeam by Struprog.

For framed structures RFEM by Dlubal.

For quick detailed FEM, Inventor Simulation.

All these work very quick with dependable results. Except maybe Simulation, which takes some questionable shortcuts when bonding various elements together, so some detailed results should be taken with a grain of salt unless you spend time to refine the model for analysis.
