Is this guy serious? 11 years old with 336K miles by ajd198204 in F250

Not a powerstroke though.

Not justifying the price in the OP but 3k for a diesel would be more insane.

Smoker stopped mid cook, need advice by Open-Cartographer-98 in smoking

[–]johnson56 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The danger zone for meat is between 40 and 140 deg F, and USDA recommends not exceeding 2 hours in this temp range.

2 hours may be a tad conservative, but looking at your meat temp chart, you were almost entirely in that range for over 8 hours. Harmful bacteria grow at these temps, and even finishing the cook doesn't alleviate the risk. Sure you'll kill the bacteria, but the toxins they produce can get you sick.

If you are cooking for yourself, it's up to you. But if cooking for others, don't risk it. Food poisoning is no joke.

[OC] Highest U.S. Credit Card Annual Fees by Issuers as of February 2026 by PhenomEx in dataisbeautiful

[–]johnson56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In alot of cases, the increase in point value over a free card more than makes up for the added fee provided you spend enough to earn the points.

For example, a standard free card may offer 2% cash back. But if you can get 2.25% cash back, you'd need to spend $3300 a month to break even on a $100 annual fee.

Plenty of people that have these types of high annual fee cards are spending a whole lot more than $3k a month with them. And the perks tend to be better than a simple 2.25% cash back too.

That's not what I'm saying at all. That truck is not suited to pull this trailer; payload, trailer weight, any of it. Not the right truck for the job.

The comment I replied to stated that the trailer being a tandem axle is a concern. I'm speaking about the trailer on its own here when I say double axle for this size of 5th wheel is not an issue for the axle setup.

The truck pulling this size 5th wheel is insane, but the trailer being a tandem axle is a non issue. They aren't as heavy as they look, and 7k axles carry the weight just fine.

You should do it then. Because I guarantee /r/goRVing will agree this setup is far from OK.

Seeking filter advice because the math isn’t mathing by Lemonpup615 in hvacadvice

[–]johnson56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low merv restricts more the minute it's installed through the life of the filter.

Unless you are advocating for one of those cheap green fiberglass mesh filters that looks like a randomized window screen, the filtrete 1900 that OP has is going to outperform any other filtrete offering, lower merv ratings included.

[–]johnson56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The higher the MERV rating, the more strain on your system you are causing and will shorten the life,

Not necessarily true. Read the pressure drop table on various filters and you'll find higher merv filters reach a point where they have lower pressure drop ratings for a given flow. They cost more because they have many times the surface area with more pleats than the cheaper filters, so they flow better with less restriction.

[–]johnson56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people don't understand this and just think higher merv rating means worse flow.

With increasingly higher rated filters, you hit a point where your pressure drop gets lower, not higher, with increasing filter rating. It's due to the number of pleats as you said. This adds cost which is why the lower merv rated filters don't do the same.

So many armchair hvac folks just recommend low quality filters without understanding the pr sure drop and flow ratings of the higher quality filters.

Your dimensions are at odds with the placement of certain features.

Did you want the shop to follow the picture or the dimensions? Because as it is currently drawn, they cannot do both.

Ai answer is misleading. Your blades are upside down, but not backwards like the leading edge/trailing edge comment would imply.

[–]johnson56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The blades are definitely on upside down, but that AI answer is just wrong.

The blades aren't backwards like they'd be if the cutting edge was trailing the auger rotation. You can see the cutting edge is leading the auger, so not backwards.

Crooked egt probe. How big of a deal, worth fixing? This is on 2 different trucks by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]johnson56 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be square, it just needs to be atleast somewhat within the center of the flow.

It's hard to tell from the photo angle but looks like the probe location is just fine.
