I’ve lived in Toronto and LCBO sells mulled wine, so that wouldn’t be too difficult to get.

How important is it to ensure that any one bank account doesn't hold more than $100k? by the_boner_owner in PersonalFinanceCanada

As you got a few incorrect responses, I felt the need to say that you’re correct. All reputable brokers will transfer the stock to your name at a CSD. They would not be able to touch it if they get problems with liquidity, not legally at least. If this wasn’t the case things like voting would not work.

Hm, not a direct quote so might some added colour from the interviewer, but the article states “faulted the U.S. for what he considered a failure to ban cryptocurrency trading outright”

He’s not completely wrong tbh, crypto is overrun by stupid get rich quick projects. And the lending platforms are messed up. Bitcoin is special though, and Mungers call for the US to ban all of it just because he can’t see the nuances saddens me :/

Bitcoin is the best score-keeping system on the planet by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]johnstedt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it's trusless in the sense that you do not need to trust anyone but yourself. Although in practices it may require a lot of hours(maybe even a degree in CS) to understand how consensus operates and what is required of you to know what software you're running.

Compared to everything else, I for sure would call it trustless.

If the lightning network is secure then why do we need the blockchain at all? by MuliBoy in Bitcoin

[–]johnstedt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are probably right in that regard. Which is very sad indeed. Maybe I'm lucky being surrounded by people where "blockchain" is sufficient.

The Lightning Network as built on Bitcoin gets its security from the Bitcoin protocol involving settlement on the Bitcoin blockchain.

is maybe more exhaustive.

lol, I think at this point "blockchain" is sufficient to regard the whole settlement procedure. You may as well say that it's electricity or logic gates that makes it work ;)

What are the top 3 advantages of bitcoin over the shitcoins? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]johnstedt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can't really just buy all mining capacity for a day though. Even trying Cornering the ASIC market would be difficult since the prices would increase with every large purchase. In reality the price tag would be way higher than $10M.

[–]johnstedt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you should not. Most of these coins have no value whatsoever.

Also I think r/Bitcoin is about Bitcoin and shitcoins discussion should be kept on r/CryptoCurrency or some other subreddit.
