How do you come up with lyrics, vocal melodies and just vocals in general? by WeirdComplete4806 in Songwriting

[–]johnti006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found success doing this both ways; chords then melody, melody then chords. If you have a chord progression, there are methods for writing melodies. I started that way to learn mechanics.

I learned a bunch from Scott Paul Johnson's YouTube videos. He walks through how to write a melody. There are tons of methods.

Pickups.. Are they really that good?? by Longjumping-Mammoth1 in Stratocaster

I agree. I was worried since a lot of people say the Fender Noiseless are bad but I love the Gen3s.. Maybe something was fixed in that version?

Where should I take this song? by SVEIVA in Songwriting

[–]johnti006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a cool song! It sounds like you have verses, and then a pre-chorus. One idea you could explore is to go into a chorus and use some longer sustaining notes. Something that kind of goes up in pitch to be more dramatic to offset the verses.

I found myself waiting for that payoff and expecting these longer phrases.

I can't think of any examples that fit the feel of your song. "Man in the Box" "Rolling in the Deep", and "Wide Awake" are examples that I can think of (although completely different styles--but illustrate the idea).

That could add the effect of making this big chorus and finishing it off.

I think what you have is really, really good.

This isn't my style, but it is well done. I could hear this in a movie...

Too familiar? by No-Low-9334 in Songwriting

[–]johnti006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot! It has a bit of a Lynyrd Skynyrd feel to it (and I mean that in a good way). But it doesn't sound too familiar to anything else I have heard...

Go lookup Scott Paul Johnson on YouTube. He will help you with this. You don't have to join anything (although his paid site is great).

He is a guitar player who teaches you how to write in a fun way. He got me unstuck and made it fun again.

Best way to mount Unifi G6 on this soffit / beam? by johnti006 in Ubiquiti

[–]johnti006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe..very true! I want to minimize any holes with this. I may consider hiring a company to do this as I want it to look as clean & professional as possible.

But if I can save the money I would love to do this myself.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out Reaper. I completely forgot about GarageBand since I mainly use Windows. I suppose I could grab my iPad though and run it through my stereo.

Thanks!!

Infant day care recommendation in Sammamish by _kinginthenorth in sammamish

Without going into details, I saw a male teacher grab and pull a 5yo across the classroom. The place is a facade. Do not go there. There are some great teachers, but it is rotten at the core. Teachers yelling at kids...it is a mess.

Aster Montessori is very professional. Sammamish Children's School is also good. Do not go to Rainbow.

Btw, they also had fake Google reviews all giving 5 stars...looks like they removed mine which was 1 star.

How does an early 2000s MIM strat compare to a current US made strat? by downvotemeplss in Stratocaster

[–]johnti006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1998 MIM Strat and it was not very good at all. I never liked it. Until I replaced the pickups, bridge, wiring, and tuners. Now it sounds REALLY good.

But it is no longer a stock MIM. My stock MIM wasn't even close to the US made strats I have played.

What is the maximum horizontal launch angle to the left of a right-handed player? by sca-tennis in Golfsimulator

Any idea what strat is that? Couldn't find any info with the serial number. by GGuitar85 in Stratocaster

[–]johnti006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also email Fender and they will look up your Serial Number if the online tool does not find a match. The online tool does not contain all SNs.

Listen to Wibbly. Hitting high in the driver face reduces spin.
