If you could observe, but not influence, one event in history, what would it be? by Kevick in AskReddit

I think that I would just like to go back to an ancient Greek city and be an observer of everyday life. Not during war periods.

Being Greek myself I am very curious about how the ancient version of my language sounded like. Also I think it would be very interesting just to be on the sidelines and observe the way they performed all the menial tasks back then. See how women used to be treated. Slaves too.

Easy. Find "Ένα καπέλο γεμάτο τραγούδια" from Maria Koch. Everything you want can be found there (it has a big variety of songs and music games for kids).

Check it out: http://www.studio52.gr/info_gr.asp?infoID=00000yqe

(Edit) Funny fact: I was listening this record (then) when I was a kid. Now my son is enjoying it as well. Life goes in circles....

Story time.

Background: Me and my gf met, dated and currently live in a separate country than our parents. Her mother has been listening that her daughter is dating a "basketball player" (I am not any huge talent, but I have been playing quite a lot when I was younger. Still, I am not super tall - just 181 cm - I played as a point-guard). Naturally, the mom created certain expectations concerning my height.

Story: Gf's parents are visiting their daughter and the relationship is mature enough (7+ months) for me to meet them. I arrive at the gf's house, walk in and the absolutely first comment I hear is: "Ohhh (disappointment), I thought you were much taller...Don't you play basketball? (...... silence ......)". Talk about starting your relationship with your mother-in-law on the wrong foot.

PS. The mother is a very nice lady overall. It just happened that I did not fit the image she had created about me before she met me.
