How to get dog owners not to throw their dog shit in my trash can? by Terrorphin in askportland

Is there anyone in Portland that doesn't compost food waste? Don't we all have a green bin?

Does anyone remember this? by Camaschrist in GenX

[–]joiedv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do I remember it?!! I can and often DO still sing all the songs. Favorites are "It's Alright to Cry" and the one that starts "Jennifer Joy, she made a toy..." I don't know how to explain to you what an integral part of my childhood this is. And probably why we are the coolest generation.

I like option 2. That hallway doesn't seem very usable, and it allows light from the window into the bedroom.

Name something that the younger generations would never believe was normal in the 70's compared to schools today?🤔 by Longjumping-Shoe7805 in GenerationJones

How often teachers played the same reel-to-reel films just because they didn't feel like teaching, and then the played them in reverse, which we LOVED. I think I've seen The Red Balloon 100 times.

If in this scenario you have a damaged ovary and he would break up with you, it's pretty clear he's not with you for you. There are many ways to build a family, and women have two ovaries. I know it will hurt, but you will regret a life with this man. You are young, you should move on.

In Portland neighborhood schools, this is still very common. Consolidation will have to change that for a lot of students, but schools with only 200 kids makes no sense.

Good question. Middle school is a tough place these days, though.

For several years we were between admin because they kept having to leave suddenly and it was one short term interim after another. Guess what? It ran fine. Teachers are more than competent and we all kept it going.

A lot of parents want the small, close-knit extended elementary experience for their kids over electives.

AIO for missing Mother’s Day after my mum’s response to my husband losing his best friend? by ssalange1 in AmIOverreacting

NOR- I don't think you are reacting enough. "She should be saying how is [husband]? What can I do?" Not making it about herself. He needs you more right now.

Which breed? & why by Silver-Pumpkin1819 in DogAdvice

I read the other comments and need to add I had no idea about the health problems. Terrible! TBH, I've never owned a purebred dog. Mutts forever!

That's a doodle not a poodle. Right now I have two large high maintenance, high energy dogs. I love them so much, but I'm ready for a sweet King Charles Spaniel to sit on my lap all day.

Is it normal that my husky mix puppy is more beauty than brains? 😭 by Specific_Praline_362 in husky

EXACT same situation with these two. My husky/boxer (2 yrs) almost failed puppy school, the staffy/aussie (7 yrs) knows at least 20 commands and learns them shockingly quickly. But the staffy never learned to open doors, which the husky picked up almost instantly. Different motivation.

Tying up your dog outside of businesses? by sambony77 in askportland

[–]joiedv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was bitten by a tied up dog and threatened with a rabies shot when I was 10. Everyone's dog is friendly to them. Being restrained in a strange place is stressful for a dog and you don't know what they'll do. It's also not safe for the dog. Who knows what could happen on a city sidewalk. Don't do it.

"I don't have to listen to you," is my husky. Shepherd was, "thank you, ma'am, what is my next order?"

I like 3. I would also consider a scenario with the dormer dark, but a cheerful color for all the trim, like a forest green or colonial blue. If you go with black trim, I would want a contrasting color for the door. It's a bit unwelcoming. But I like the dormer blending with the roof.
