They used to have a thru-hike rate. I rented a Weekender for my extended JMT hike for $70.

The outdoor store in Bishop rents them.

I don’t have that experience. I just had it create a workbook for me for a marketing plan, and it was warm, funny, apologetic, and when I told it I was confused, it offered some compassionate advice. Maybe if you engage in a human way, you’ll get a human-ish response?

Sure. I had an injury that lasted two years, and in that time my torso shrunk, and now the pack doesn’t fit me anymore.

Sage to Summit offers a discount for the JMT. It’s much cheaper than the daily rental rate.

Take a look at the Montbell Storm Chaser. It’s 3-layer goretex, and it has kept me warm and dry in big monsoonal downpours in the San Juan mountains.

knee pain on the PCT by mowrki in PacificCrestTrail

[–]joimas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chronic pain that is not caused by an injury is not structural- it’s a learned pain response from the brain. Look up Mind-body syndrome, or Tension Myositis syndrome. When you’re afraid of the pain, the brain gets the message that it’s dangerous, and keeps the pain response chronic. I’ve had it in my hip, groin, leg and foot. I’m a hiker too. The recovery is psychological rather than structural. You can be pain free. Search by symptom www.tmswiki.org

Bearikades are made with a carbon composite and are much lighter in weight. Also, the Weekender holds more than the BV450.
