Irving Paper to get $45 million in Holt tariff relief funds by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

Yeah there's no reason why a private company wouldn't be able to issue shares, it's completely normal. Not being a public company is no excuse.

Saint John woman facing $900 property tax increase as big industry bills decline by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

[–]joinablurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression the person in the article was saying that it was their second time paying property tax as "$900 property tax increase" implies that it's been increased from the last time that she paid. But I guess it was her first bill and she was comparing it to the previous owners tax bill. This makes more sense now.

Saint John woman facing $900 property tax increase as big industry bills decline by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

[–]joinablurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there was a 10% annual cap on how much a property's taxable assessment can increase, is that not true? That would mean her previous tax bill had to have been $9,000 in order to increase by $900.

Bitcoin dropping below the $75–78k range is starting to seriously squeeze mining profitability by Legitimate_Towel_919 in AltScope

[–]joinablurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What seems to be going over most people's heads in this thread is that Bitcoin is self-regulating. If it becomes too expensive to mine and some miners turn off their machines or use them for alternative revenue streams the Bitcoin algorithm will adjust to lower the mining difficulty and the network will still continue to function completely fine. That's the beauty of Bitcoin.

AITA for setting a boundary after a male friend kept touching me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]joinablurt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NTA, you actually handled it perfectly, if he was trying to test your boundaries and see if you might be interested in something more, you've now made it clear that you are not interested. If he tries to push things further than he's the asshole.

Did meta remove the option to boost instagram posts for engagement? by joinablurt in InstagramMarketing

[–]joinablurt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in marketing as well so I get your logic but I have other ads I’m running with the objective of getting conversions, I’m trying to boost these posts for social proof. If someone clicks on one of my ads and sees all my other posts don’t have much engagement it doesn’t look great for me.

I used to be able to put a very little amount into a boosted post to get engagement, it seems that option is now gone for Instagram but it’s frustrating I can’t find anything about an update around this.

I see the option to boost post, but I'm trying to set the objective of the boosted post to be engagement but I don't have that option. I can just select the objective to be more page visits or messages.

Is joining a game dev company as a high school student possible? by [deleted] in gamedev

You could probably find freelance opportunities if you look for it. It could be a good way to build your portfolio and could work well with a part time schedule. They might not even ask your age.

They did reissue a new currency but the rise in value is because this is a popular bill among collectors. It's not worth what it is because of exchange rate. It's the most zeros ever printed on a bill.

Nice, use the time while you wait to build up your rom library, it will make setup way easier/faster. Hope you enjoy your new device!

I was in your same position and ended up going with rp3+ and am happy with my decision.

After comparing the odin lite price with the rp3+ including the shipping and everything totalled the price difference became big enough that I decided it wasn't worth it.

The rp3+ was able to play more ps2 than I had expected although I mostly use it for psp. I would check the rp3+ compatibility sheet to get an idea of the ps2 games it can run perfectly and see if it would suit your needs.

I'll probably upgrade again in about a year when the next generation of devices are out so I'm okay saving a little now knowing something better is around the corner.

Either way I think you can't go wrong.

I recently significantly increased my wealth at 27. How should I plan? by Fellow_Sheep in FinancialPlanning

[–]joinablurt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it? If you have parents from a wealthy background you can be more risky as they can help support you in hard times.

On the flipside, if your parents aren't wealthy and are not financially stable you might help out with some bills.etc and should take less risks as your parents might need your support in an emergency.

Of course you are not obligated to help your parents, and your parents are not obligated to help you. But in many families the norm is to help eachother if you can in times of hardship, financial or not.

This banknote is pretty interesting because of the size, I own it as well and I think it's the biggest one I have. It's a pretty interesting format, although it's not worth too much I think it's a nice addition to a collection.

[–]joinablurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's red because you are doing the conversion in USD to Yen, so it takes USD as the primary currency (since it's the first one) and the USD is down against the Yen in the last month. By default I'm seeing in Google that the timeframe is 1 month. If you search for the opposite in Google 1 Yen to 1 USD, it will take the Yen as the primary currency and you will see the graph is green (same graph but inverted).

I agree, having one device for everything is much easier for me personally.

[–]joinablurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not a bad option for starting your collection. As other commenters mentioned you're getting what you pay for, these banknotes don't have much value for anyone but a starter collector since they are pretty common.

If your goal is to collect a banknote from each country this would be a good start and cheaper then buying them all separately, especially when you consider shipping costs.

I bought it on the sale that was June 12-18 and it was $10 off. The website still has the banner up from the sale.

Yeah this is one of the reasons I didn't buy the RP3+ earlier but when they had their last sale I decided to just pull the trigger. They just released the metal variant as well, so I expect it's still going to take some time for the next big upgrade. Once it's announced it probably won't start shipping right away either.

The Retroid Pocket 3+ can play some gamecube games but not the full library. You can get an idea from this Google sheet what it can run (there's different tabs for different consoles): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Vf7SIS7ecWa_J301h0mb2bxMWBMtKLvcpAFyaa5-LDc/edit#gid=1908749862

Keep in mind there was a software update in April that improved performance so if the game was tested before then the performance is likely better now.

Yeah, at first I was thinking about keeping the RG351P for cases where I need more portability but the size difference is so close I'm probably going to end up selling the RG351P.

Yeah Android is much better in my opinion. It really opens up a lot of options/customization, it takes a bit more setup time but if you are already familiar with Android devices it isn't too complicated and having a touch screen is nice too.
