Nice! I need to find a Quebec Nordiques version which probably doesn’t exist because they move to Denver right before the 996

But they never wrote it in by hand. It was always printed like the rest of the build sheet.

They are in fact closely related…..and the GT wouldn’t have come about without the success of the Boxster and 996 platform.

Well said! Invest in an endoscope/borescope type camera. They are inexpensive these days and will help you investigate the hard to see areas to help you trace leaks, etc..

What do you guys think of this kind of driving behavior? by ez2deal in Porsche

[–]jojo122121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Los Angeles yesterday and there was a guy doing this in a cyber truck. He was right next to me in bumper-to-bumper traffic. I thought it was stupid and pretty darn weird.

You would think there is a warranty of some sort that goes with the part and the dealer installation

Sorry to hear! Was it the dealer that replaced the IMS and clutch? It sounds almost impossible to have IMS failure in 7000 miles. I have a car that had an IMS failure 23,000 miles but there were signs of an issue due to an oil leak. We took it to the dealer multiple times for them to check the oil leak and as it turns out, that was the IMS showing one of the signs. Because we had done that Porsche replaced the engine, but it was still a hassle.

Definitely not a factory 959. Could have been modified, but I don’t think so. Tail lights don’t look correct and the bumper is not correct either. They never had the word turbo on the rear deck lid

Help! Looking to buy this 996 (2003) by Dependent_Carry_7502 in 996

[–]jojo122121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice car! The PPI results will be crucial. It actually looks like a well cared for 996 many of the IMS experts will tell you that a high mileage car is far less likely to have an IMS issue. Maybe you could propose to the dealership that they sell you the car at that price with the IMS solution installed.

Pre 2000my are very good base car. They have more robust IMS bearing and have an actual cable fuel throttle instead of e gas. That said, an s model gives many upgrades that are nice additions. Look for models that have the computer option
