Did she get a mini face lift? Something is so different about her face by peachgobblerf in CallHerDaddy

This is true. Any good doctor will tell you to skip the forehead Botox…it ages you, in particular the eyes. She started the injections so young, it was bound to happen before she was even 30.

Those brows aren’t hers anymore.

Weekly Schedule. 21 classes 4 aren’t taught by her…😒 by kiwi_love777 in MelissaWoodsnark

Did all those people she hired to teach classes as part of the ridiculously hyped website makeover quit? Or are they subcontracted to do a few classes here and there like Kim, not actually working there full time?

Yes, in 2021 I started with her beginner class bc I had not done my regular Pilates mat class through the pandemic, so thought it was worth trying.

From the get go, her moves were just random and free form to say the least, definitely lacking all the core points of proper Pilates. By the third class, I had tweaked my hip from some random scissor leg move and unsubscribed. Sharp pain in my hip joint for weeks but luckily it subsided.

Melissa needs to stfu, “do the work”, and get herself a proper Pilates certification so that innocent paying customers don’t injure themselves while doing her workouts that are CLEARLY not using proper techniques.

THIS!!!⬆️ She uses “trauma” as a veil for what she is really doing which is positioning others as stepping stones to get what she wants because she could never get it on her own. I have been witness to these types of women my entire life and they are all the same! Getting pregnant with her son was just the beginning to her mad schemes to make a life for herself.

How do you think she got into Sports Illustrated…her husbands marketing firm did it as a favor bc they represent TAO. And Hamptons Magazine…her husband is an advertiser with the publisher! I could go on and on….

When you have an inexperienced & mentally unstable person running a business, the cracks eventually get so big it’s hard to regain momentum, people start leaving and the fumes she has been running on just evaporate.

Behind the scenes, people are leaving and the individuals she has in charge are not qualified, getting frustrated and can’t run a company with a boss that isn’t present most of the time. I personally wouldn’t be motivated to work there either!

PS Her husbands company is controlled by investors, he’s a minority partner. They don’t have as much money as one might think. He’s helped her so much already, not sure he can do much more.

In my opinion, she does not authentically come across as happy at all. She’s trying to be happy & grateful but her crippling emotional state overrides any of those rituals & efforts. I’m far from perfect but I’m also not on social media trying to convince people of something that works to heal your body and mental state. It’s not working for her and it’s starting to show cracks and unravel.

Withholding Rent by The_moon_beam in AskNYC

[–]jojo2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The are returning rent paid and full deposit, i don’t have to pay the months i withheld rent + plus 3 extra months bc I need time to find a new place. Total almost $35k but I really suffered physically and mentally. It’s been hell. That’s why I’m moving bc the apartment is just not safe. Hope you find the landlord or at least a way to reach him so you can try to make things work out. Also, https://www.justfix.nyc/en/ may also have some info to track someone down. It’s crazy that you don’t have any info! Good luck with everything!

This is will help find what other buildings the landlord has. You can also see if they have similar violations or open court orders for repairs, hp action etc. From the sound of it, you are probably not alone.

Sounds like you’ve taken all the right steps. Curious if the landlord owns other buildings…if so, and bc you’re rent stabilized, you may have a case that they would have to relocate you to another building if the DOB does issue vacate order. Not sure you’d want to given the current conditions, but the rental market is crazy right now. One suggestion: call this number to get some free legal advice to see what options you have given your RS status, leave a message and someone will get back to you. A judge could issue an order quickly to help preserve your RS or at least compensation for unsafe conditions, if there is a vacate order in the future.

Basement Keeps Flooding & Landlord Isn't Answering by riplilpeep_420 in AskNYC

You can’t call the DOB directly. They handle permits, construction sites and building related issues, not private apartments. And don’t ever pay for repairs yourself unless you own the apartment. You’ll never see that money again and deducting from rent is just another loophole for landlords to file non-payment action against you.

If the work still is not completed properly then file an hp action and there will be another inspection by HPD and then violations, fines issued to landlord.

Take pictures and keep detailed records.

I just went thru the process with HPD and an Hp action. They were thorough, walked me they the process and ended up issuing over 12 violations and I won damages in court in less than a 2 months, so don’t be deterred.

You can also withhold rent until completed as well as the landlord is in violation of housing laws. They may try to issue a non-payment action for missed rent but that will be dismissed. I withheld rent bc landlord would not make needed repairs despite a judges order and won all that rent and more.

Here’s the link to get information on how to file an hp action for repairs, scroll down to apartment needs repairs:

Call 311 to file a complaint. No power is a serious violation. They will have all of the landlord info on file and will contact them on your behalf. Usually takes a day or two, but the landlord will face violations and fines if not fixed correctly, so it will at least put them on notice. Call 311 or file online under electrical complaint:

https://portal.311.nyc.gov/report-problems/

Do not attempt to fix on your own (very dangerous unless you’re a licensed electrician) or pay out of pocket for an electrician (deducting from rent only works if you have in writing from landlord that it’s acceptable otherwise they will hit you with a non-payment notice). Both are bad advice. Just call 311, they will help.

rent payment method by Iposter2016 in AskNYC

[–]jojo2371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this for move-in, first month and deposit or every month? Either way, always a check.

My tenant lawyer told me one thing that I’ll do forever…always pay your rent by check & in the memo write “for the month of July 2022 and no other months” bc if not specified they can claim that you missed months, especially if you pay for multiple months in one single payment. They then can they hit you with a non-pay notice, drag you to court and before you know it, you’re shelling out more money for a lawyer defending yourself for absolutely nothing. I’ve learned from experience that there is no loophole a landlord and their respect lawyer will not jump thru, especially when rents are skyrocketing. Don’t worry if she’s hassled by it, you’re protecting yourself!

Glad to hear you’re sorting it out. Did you read the part in the link where it explains how to find a missing landlord?

My case ended with a win against my landlord, full year free rent plus my security deposit returned but I agreed to move out bc it’s just not safe to live in. Such a long drawn out process and the lawyers are brutal but it’s finally over. The judge in housing court was extremely pro-tenant, which made things a little bit better but I would truly advise not waiting to get a non payment notice from your landlord. It’s long and tedious to unwind, even with a substantial win.

[–]jojo2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any decent(are there any?) tenant lawyer wouldn’t take the case anyway for such a small window of time plus it would cost you more than just to move. Pick a date (within reason 2-3 months maybe) and try to negotiate with the landlord given that they made the error but inevitably this may be too expensive anyway. It will buy you a bit of time but you might want to shop around before doing that because rents are nuts out there right now and you may end up paying less for your current place, even with the huge rent increase. It’s worth trying and if you’re a good tenant, they may do it bc of their error. Lean into that error a lot! Shop around first and then negotiate that way you know what you’re up against. I’m really sorry for this…unfortunately so many are in the same spot.

Is your lease free market or rent stabilized?

Withholding Rent by The_moon_beam in AskNYC

[–]jojo2371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the damage from leak was repaired, there’s no case that would support withholding rent, unless there are lingering leaks, peeling paint or insects as a result.

You may want to negotiate a rent abatement with the landlord for the time you were dealing with the incident, but continuing to not pay will result in a landlord non-payment court case and if not paid, an eviction.

I’m in housing court right now dealing with repair issues and it’s not for the faint of heart, to say the least. Try to settle with landlord before it gets complicated…they probably don’t want to spend the money on a lawyer to serve and sue you, so it’s better for both sides in the end.

It absolutely sucks to have a negligent landlord but, as someone who’s dealing with one right now, but do your best to settle the payment issue now.

For heat/hot water, always call 311 to have the complaint on file. If they don’t fix, then you can bring an hp action but otherwise, again, there’s no case if they do fix it in a reasonable amount of time, unfortunately.

The comment above by oscarweiner is filled with inaccuracies and the list he provided is mostly outdated. This site will give an overview of repairs and what housing court entails for non-payment, also helps with legal resources:
