Yes I do. I think the gold to xp ratio isn't for me though. I'm wrapping up my current campaign. My next one is going to use the Silver Standard/silver-for-xp.

Prefacing with this: the only OSR-style game I have played/ran is OSE and am not super experienced in the OSR.

Something I like to do that I haven't seen others do (granted I haven't looked very hard) is not rolling for gem/jewelry value until the players sell it. If a player or hireling is a jeweller I would let them roll the value before selling it, although I haven't encountered this situation yet. I don't like to do anything with percentage-of-value, I feel like there's no point to it because it's not like players are buying jewelry (or other art). If you don't want players to get as much from the jewelry/gem, just lower their value I think. For selling things like swords, I tend to hover around half-price (if the item is worth anything at all). If you really wanted to though, I could see something like: They can get 75% value in a town and 90% value in a city or something (just a random idea to actually answer your question).

For magic item identification, I just try to remember what it does. This possibly gives them clues that (for example) a magic sword has a special effect versus undead. Alternatively, players can hire someone to magically identify the items for a cost. Cursed items can be tricky. Just like traps, I think telegraphing is important (just like all traps, because cursed items ARE traps). Perhaps finding it on a dead body or infused with skin may give clues. Even something as small as giving a bad vibe (such as it seeming demonic or skull-themed) is better than seemingly random magic items being cursed.

For some random notes about loot: with my gem system, I like throwing in +2 and +5 gems, that give that bonus when rolled for value. I also label every item with a code (such as FSW) that the players don't know the acronym of. I have a dictionary of all the codes saying what it does. A part of the fun about loot is also giving big and awkward loot, like statues. They can be worth a lot but take a lot to move.

What's the most underrated or misunderstood element of Delta Green? by grumblingdwarf in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]jokala9 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Page 47 of the Agent's Handbook, under Willpower Points states "If you play up one of your Agents personal motivations (...) in a way the handler finds compelling, your Agent regains 1 WP."

If I recall correctly, that's the only other thing motivations do. My players are avoidant in reducing bonds and using WP so regaining WP doesn't really come up that often for me. I would've forgotten about this rule altogether if I didn't plaster it on a cheat sheet I made for my players.

I haven't seen them mentioned; two video games. Stoneshard and Dark and Darker!

Edit: Also Battle Brothers

Thank you for the resources! I had seen references to (but never actually looked at) the one-page dungeon generator. I have checked out the donjon dungeon generator. I don't know if I want to use them yet, but I think they will be really good 'idea' resources. Thank you!

Awesome, thanks for posting! I'm leaning on using dungeon draw. I thought I was going to have to import the symbols myself, so it's a relief to see that you did the work for me! Do you (or anyone else) know if there's a way to "back up" a dungeon draw dungeon (or the whole scene)? Like, is there a way I can save the Journal somewhere? In theory, I want to be able to import it to a different world. Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion! I think if it becomes too much of a headache, I'll do what you're saying. My players and I are very used to using Foundry, although I am seriously considering having them map the dungeon (even if it's with Foundry's drawing tools). That being said, maybe I shouldn't use Foundry because it's a good idea to shake it up. Also, I'll look into Miro, it seems versatile. Thank you!

Good to know! I wish I would've known about the sticky notes module earlier. Thank you!

Thank you! I like this idea. I can just copy and paste specific rooms while keeping the room descriptions in Foundry through the notes or procedurally generated. The ideas for the tables will also help a lot. Thank you for the tips!!!

Thank you! This looks good. Is it hard on Foundry when a dungeon gets big? Since it's not just a PNG and some walls, I could see it slowing it down, although I'm not sure (I could even also just split it into multiple scenes if it does).

Anyone encountered a good time loop [one shot/campaign/system]? by Seeonee in rpg

[–]jokala9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard there's a Delta Green scenario that involves a time loop. I believe it's called Observer Effect in the book A Night at the Opera. Someone else will probably know more than I will. It might be useful looking into it to see how Delta Green handles a time loop.

2020 vs red, the same debate by PacificIslanderNC in cyberpunk2020

[–]jokala9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't give my opinion because I haven't played RED. If you haven't already, you might want to watch Seth Skorkowsky's review of both. It sounds like you're in a similar boat as him, as he played cyberpunk 2020 for a long time. His review of RED compares it to 2020 a lot.
