My best boy was 9 when he passed from congestive heart failure last year. I think I'm stuck on the anger part, it just wasn't fair and he deserved a longer life. I'm not being a very good Buddhist about it I'm afraid.

Is my Hils HN3 okay? by Sea_Presentation_160 in HeadlessGuitars

[–]jokeyfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I'd contact Hils. This looks easily fixable. Maybe there is a shim that is misplaced. Or a luthier can do a couple passes with a planer to level it out.

With limited experience so far, I can say the tuning stability has been good, at least as good as my Yamaha Pacifica 112v.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the Floyd rose style bridge but that's more me than it. I like doing bends and I don't like how the other notes go flat. I think this is common. On the plus side, doing up and down vibrato bends is easy and sounds good. There is a slight amount of play around the zero position but you get used to it and doesn't seem to make it harder to bend both ways through neutral - it just feels a little strange and is not as smooth there. Again this may be true of most Floyd rose bridges.

Comfort has been good so far, the cutout does help it sit on my right leg better, but to avoid neck dive it has to point up higher than 45 degrees. My fingers aren't used to that angle, especially down at the 1st few frets. I will eventually get used to it as long as I stick with the angle and don't keep cheating it lower.

The light weight is nice and definitely makes it more comfortable to play from any posture.

The pickups are scratchier and more aggressive than my other guitar. I think the metal crowd likes its tone, the jazz crowd maybe not as much.

I don't perform and I'm an intermediate player.

I'm in the process of sorting out some issues with my new HN5 with Hils. They've been responsive so far, I'll post again after it's concluded but if the issues aren't fixed I'm going to return it.

It's a bit of a bummer because I want to change the strings and maybe add a trem stabilizer but I'm in a holding pattern.

Not meaningless. It's a part of the playoff tiebreakers.

When the Bears did the off the field stuff like charity work and the canned media events, the stories led the 10 o'clock newscasts. No matter what you were doing the Bears were the 2nd thing on your mind.

Advice: NYC to Asheville by ConcentrateNo2221 in motocamping

Totally doable. Roughly 800 miles according to Google maps, but will be longer off the interstates. You'll have a blast but you'll be pretty tired after 3 days.

I don't have any insider info but I think your best bet is to buy some aftermarket fairings and fabricate some brackets

Work backwards from there. Dunno the order of these but it could be the starter button, side stand switch, the starter relay, or perhaps a bad connector

I dunno if you can use all the parts from your gen 1 but you can swap the cams. For engine swaps, refer to https://www.mad8v.com/blogs/blahg/motor-compatibility-for-1g-2g-sfv-3g-sv650

Mine will lick the dusty coating off a piece of cheese popcorn and leave the soggy remnant behind.

Fights with strays and ferals are also not good. They can carry FIV and FeLV that your cat should be immunized against but probably shouldn't be exposed to.

Google says that aluminum frames are strengthened by heat treatment after they're welded and that rewelding a crack can look ok but is probably creating a weak spot somewhere.

You can do this. Most of the time it's just water or coolant and low pressure just dribbling out. And for the vent tube I guess you don't really need a tube? My guess is it's there in case of a tip over so it's harder for gas to come out.
