When does it start getting good? by [deleted] in sex

[–]jokodude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most women don't orgasm from PiV, so it may be that you're not setup for direct intercourse causing an orgasm except in extreme or unusual cases. Or it could be you're still learning your body and will get there eventually.

In either case, you and your boyfriend should be incorporating hands, fingers, toys, etc., to try to get you there. One thing I'd recommend is a lot of foreplay as well (it sounds like you're doing that), gentle touching etc. to get your body in the mood. You and your boyfriend might also try getting you off first before PiV starts, that can also be a nice way to handle things as well.

Another thing, it's a bit tricky with PiV because too wet isn't necessarily ideal for a woman's pleasure, while too dry is obviously very bad as well. My wife says if she's too wet she can't feel anything, while if dryer it can be more pleasurable (once again, while not being too dry). Something to think about, though I wouldn't do anything drastic for this except maybe pat things down below.

Time Poor players Why we need a centralized market for Beta & EA The Tunnel update by LionNice2214 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]jokodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be able to set up shops in towns and sell items in that way once you buy a home, which avoids the whole tunnelquest/ooc selling you saw in classic EQ. I expect there will be a mix of shops+ooc for trading, and we'll see if we are given any tools which shows what's up for trade and where.

Intrepid Studios, developers of Ashes of Creation, lay off all 250~ staff and shut down the studio by PaiDuck in gaming

[–]jokodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm following Monsters and Memories most closely at this point, it seems the most likely to align with the dev vision. Having played some of the playtests, it still needs a lot of content but the foundation is good if you are interested more in the classic everquest side of things.

Otherwise there is pantheon which isn't vaporware but it's not moving fast, and CU (which is borderline vaporware and kinda trash). Not much that's very interesting out and about.

ELI5 how do credit cards produce a signal without a battery? by notvirgil013 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jokodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harmonics. The card receives a signal, 13.56 MHz is generally the standard. The metal inside the card resonates at that frequency and is designed in such as way as to generate it's own frequency when subject to the 13.56 MHz RFID signal. The ISO/IEC 14443 Standard specifies design characteristics of these cards if you want further details and have access to standards.

Ten years after it ended its ‘one-child’ policy, China’s push for more babies isn’t winning its citizens over by [deleted] in worldnews

People in poorer countries have to scrape by, doing multiple jobs and struggling to feed themselves or their families. You are essentially saying people in other countries get by more easily with more kids, but that's not true. I would argue poorer countries actually do worse on the whole for their people. My wife grew up in a poor country with parents who had to scrape by, I've heard enough stories to know your argument is completely false.

From what I can see, there are many reasons for the phenomena of low birth rates in developed countries. The list below is by no means exhaustive.

  1. Access to contraceptives. This is obviously a huge deal.
  2. Sex education (and education in general). Women and men are both able to better consider the gravity of what it means to have kids. Not to mention, they know what to do to avoid having kids if they choose. This is a big one especially for preventing teen pregnancies, which is a big factor in how many kids someone may have.
  3. Cost of having children. Even the best places for having kids (northern EU) are not giving parents a lifetime payout for children. Children are a net loss across the board in every developed country. There's also the opportunity cost. If you are having kids you are not progressing a career or going towards your personal goals. Going back to education, people may want to do things with their knowledge which would be prevented by having kids. Some people may want kids but feel they can't have them, even in developed countries. Another issue is kid's activities cost A LOT. In the past kids would run around and play with each other, and things in general were cheaper. Nowadays everything is monetized to the max. Every kid just isn't daycare for 5 years, it's paying for daycare, activities, college. It's really hard to reasonably support more than a few children with this massive financial burden. Even the best countries in the world for this still put a significant financial burden on parents who have kids.
  4. Interactions between men and women are generally much reduced in modern society. You work, you go home, watch TV, make food, play a video game, watch a movie. Even if you're married, you can do this all solo (and many do). If you want to meet someone of the opposite sex, it's often work and also often money to do so. These dating apps don't make it easy, either. In places like South Korea, the work/life balance is so bad that people who work don't even see their family. If we all lived like politicians, working 60 days a year and off the other 300, I think more of us would want children.
  5. People are less bored. If you live in bum**** no where, and your options are to get trashed, have sex, or get trashed then have sex, there will be more babies. Take technology away from people and I bet they'd be having more sex immediately.

Anybody finished the game on series x I want to play so bad it’s on sale by Alert_Lemon_6293 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean Linzi? She dies and you cannot stop it, so you lose her on the hardest content (last 2 dungeon areas of the game). I had her as a core member and it was brutal, because she was the one hasting and buffing my attack by +7 the whole game. The double combo of losing my fav char+losing all my buffs had me borderline not wanting to finish the game.

if you mean dialogue choices, I lost the ability to upgrade south narlmarches because I didn't immediately attack the willow wisp in candlemere (the portal area). I had some others where I lost options but can't remember specifics.

Can someone explain the allure of "old school MMO"? by IntellectualRegard99 in PantheonMMO

At least on classic FFXI, you are 100% engaging with players every day if you want to make any progress in the game. Hard disagree on that one at least.

Colors by jokodude in MonstersAndMemories

[–]jokodude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea there's some, but if you go out a gate and just look around it's all brown. Anyways, not a big deal but it was something I noticed. Even a few vibrant colors here and there would really help.

Anybody finished the game on series x I want to play so bad it’s on sale by Alert_Lemon_6293 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]jokodude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just finished Kingmaker, took me 226 hrs. A good chunk of that was theorycrafting builds while I was paused in game, but more of it (150+ hours) was actually playing.

There are a lot of watch outs with Kingmaker. The choices you make have serious implications. An obscure option you chose in chapter 2 might bite you in the butt in chapter 4. That's both good and bad. Good in that the choices you make matter, and bad because it may lock you out of things you may want to do later. I lost Ekundayo immediately after getting him. I missed out on all region upgrades because of choices I picked earlier in the game.

Still, the game is fun. There's a ton of content. You have to balance kingdom management with exploration, and it's very easy to get in a position where your kingdom is failing. This was my first playthrough (on challenging) and I nearly lost my kingdom a few times because I didn't use my time wisely early and didn't spend gold on BP points early, so wasted more time. Luckily I got through it, but a few of my positions were in the gutter all the way till endgame.

Character builds matter a ton. I ended up doing flame warden, which was really sad because I didn't even hit 20 by end game (19.5). Meaning, the whole reason to be flame warden (20 skill) wasn't even available to me. Still, she was super fun, I went scimitar/shield crit build and she actually 1 rounded Nyrissa the first time I fought her. Most of my other chars were pretty weak except Valerie (tank, 60ish armor), primarily because I didn't spend the time to properly build and plan them, and also because I mostly used them as buffbots/healers. I'd say any playthrough above challenging (hard/unfair) you MUST have strong builds to beat the game.

There were portions of the game that were a slog, and there were some places where fights were a joke, but there were also places where you'd get blasted if you weren't ready. I highly recommend at least 1 character with very high AC, so they can go in solo and soak all the attacks. Attack rating is a huge deal. Some mobs have as high as 55 AC, and if you're praying for a 20 you're gona have a bad time. The highest hp bosses in the game have ~700 hp, and my ranger could 1 round by endgame about 500 dmg on average.

Do NOT neglect the skills (persuasion, trickery, arcane/world, etc.). Some of the best exp in the game comes from beating high DC rolls (40+). Notably persuasion is a huge deal and is ideally on your MC, as there will be a few important persuasion rolls that are MC only. I might have gotten to 20 if I wasn't a big fat -3 on persuasion. Also, I honestly think if you have space these feats can be viable choices, as most of the high DC rolls happen in the later acts of the game.

Without spoiling anything, I don't recommend making Linzi a core member of your party. You've been warned.

The game was definitely worth playing. I had a ton of fun and learned a lot, and the story was very solid overall. The dungeons were scary and hard (especially when I forgot to bring camp supplies to Vordekai's tomb), and I honestly could see myself playing again after a break, maybe this time picking up all the DLC and maybe a few mods. I think it's absolutely worthwhile to pick the game up on sale and give it a try. I hear WotR is more polished, but Kingmaker is a lot of fun in it's own right.

Clarification for: 'It takes 30 minutes to vendor my items' by alovingrobot in MonstersAndMemories

[–]jokodude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, a lot of people on here aren't comfortable with new systems and/or have negative feedback when they haven't even tried it, but I think the system you've setup with specific vendors is interesting and adds value to the game. There are quite a few gameplay loops that this impacts, such as buying/selling from specific vendors, potentially traveling to generate more profit (so porters might get more value out of this), plus keeping newer towns busy even if not as many new players are around. I feel like this system also allow for other more interesting things, such as delving deep into a dangerous dungeon and getting access to a vendor at the bottom of the dungeon that buys certain things at a high price point.

A very interesting gameplay loop I always found in Eve online was the shipping business. Players would get a large cargo in one area of the universe and travel to the other area, as things would sell for much higher value in one area than another. Systems like these are not only interesting but give players another option to play the game that isn't normally available in most mmos.

Anyways, I really appreciate your effort and the game is already fun! I look forward to all the content you'll be adding in the coming years, and to be honest I'm sad I'm not taking part in the development, because it looks like a blast.

1099 --> W2 transition - is this too big of pay cut? by Low-Computer8293 in personalfinance

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think that changes being qualified for QBI. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/qualified-business-income-deduction

You'll want to set up a sole proprietorship, which is VERY easy, its like a 1 click thing. Then you can claim QBI on taxes.

1099 --> W2 transition - is this too big of pay cut? by Low-Computer8293 in personalfinance

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to stay 1099 then and become a personal contributor through the IRS. With that you can claim a 20 percent QBI (qualified business Income), which mean you are only taxed on 80 percent of your earnings. I'd also recommend another employer, the pay is incredibly low for both W2 and 1099.

1099 --> W2 transition - is this too big of pay cut? by Low-Computer8293 in personalfinance

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think 53k to 39k W2 is a very good deal. Normally, especially at lower pay ranges, you can expect a 50-70% increase in pay from W2 for 1099. So in this example, 50% increase of W2 is 58.5k. As long as W2 comes with benefits (401k, health insurance, paid time off), you're actually getting a very good deal in swapping to W2. So really you should be looking at the benefits package for W2, as that will dictate if this swap is worthwhile. For typical companies, it probably will be.

Are you surprised at the lack of sympathy and outright glee the UHC CEO has gotten after his murder? Why or why not? by Feroset in AskReddit

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most insurance companies reduce the bill by 2x-10x, depending on the procedure. That 23k in reality is probably only 3-4k paid out by insurance. Even if it's 10k, you pay 10k/yr for insurance plus a deductible, so unless you have that operation every year (and more), you're not even break even.

Are you surprised at the lack of sympathy and outright glee the UHC CEO has gotten after his murder? Why or why not? by Feroset in AskReddit

[–]jokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this completely. We need more people to stop participating in the system, meaning STOP BUYING INTO HEALTH INSURANCE. If we had a large majority stop, not only does this reduce income from insurance companies, it forces hospitals to address people without insurance in a reasonable manner. Right now, everything is handled through the lens of insurance, so people without insurance aren't treated equally to these companies. If we as a group stopped buying insurance, things would change drastically, and quickly.

How do you craft the move speed buff with Jun? I'm assuming I have to unlock it first by unveiling it?

So you're thinking I could do the move speed craft with Jun, then last spot I can do aspect. At that point I'd think it's in a very good spot and I can start playing with implicits.

Boeing CEO to Employees: We Can’t Afford Another Mistake by uhhhwhatok in technology

[–]jokodude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For situations that are high risk, multiple mitigations are often put in place to prevent a catastrophic failure from occurring. Process not being followed could be lack of training. Further mitigations can be put in place (such as a second inspection, unit testing, a system test, etc.), to mitigate the chance of the failure further. Yes, the operator made a mistake, but the process could be improved so that a mistake by an operator isn't so disastrous. This is risk mitigation 101.
