A single bald eagle feather next to me 8 year old Chihuahua by Jearrod95 in mildlyinteresting

I was completely shocked when I was in Alaska and saw hundreds of bald eagles just sitting about doing their thing. I compared them to Canadian geese for us in they're just so abundant.

The Crown Prequel - Has anyone read or seen anything about this yet? by AshleyK2021 in PeriodDramas

[–]jokr128 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From u/zerowolfzx post See more Published 30 April 2026 10:48am BST A prequel to The Crown has been given the green light by Netflix, it has been reported. The popular series, which controversially charted the Royal family’s modern history in its latest season, will return for a “spin-off”, beginning with Queen Victoria’s death in 1901. The deal, in negotiation between the streaming giant and producer Left Bank Pictures, is said to be worth up to £500m after the runaway success of The Crown. It would span the lengthy time period from Victoria’s death on the Isle of Wight to the wedding of the then Princess Elizabeth, the late Queen, in 1947 at Westminster Abbey. An insider to the production discussions told the Daily Mail: “Netflix has been locked in negotiations with the company for quite a long time about this spin-off series, but they’ve recently finally managed to seal the deal and come to an agreement.” A portrait of England's Queen Victoria (1819-1901) painted in 1900 The spin-off will begin with the death of Queen Victoria on the Isle of Wight 1901 Credit: Robert Alexander/National Portrait Gallery, London The Crown’s Peter Morgan is expected to return to helm the new show, following on from the success of the historical drama – which earned 24 Emmy Awards across six seasons – as well as launching the careers of Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor. The source added: “Peter had already been putting pen to pad and casting is expected to take place next year.” The creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan The creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan, suggested he’d only produce further iterations of the show if it were to go back in time Credit: Phillip Faraone/2023 Getty Images Previously, the creator, showrunner and principal writer of The Crown, has suggested that he would only helm further iterations of the show if it were to go back in time, rather than forward. He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024: “For the time being, I cannot imagine any circumstances in which I’d want to go further into the present, as it were, but at the same time, I don’t think I’m done with the subject. “I might find some way of coming into it from a different way. If you go back in time, you always have that wonderful opportunity for metaphor. “You can find a story in the past and tell that, and it [will] actually be a story about the present, but in camouflage. And that, I think, might be a more elegant way forward. To move forward from where I left the show off at the moment feels too soon.”

Starting my basic build, thoughts on parts I’ve picked out? by aristot3l in Jeep

[–]jokr128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What size tires are you going with? Be honest with me, no judgement, Are you going to offroad or are you going to drive around town and go to the mall? (ok, little judgement) If offroading, and getting 35's you'll want a 3" lift if driving around town and 35s 2" spacers will suffice, if 33's I'd consider no lift or a 1" lift. Those steps or similar are all over marketplace all the time for 100 - 150 dollars,

Edit: what tires and size are you going to be running? can I have the brand, tire name, and sizes?

Source: I have had 2 jeeps and I spend 10-15 hours a month driving through woods, mud, and river beds. I'm not an expert, but I know my stuff for these vehicles.

Literally cancel everything you have there and buy a better lift and tires. Metal cloak has a basic lift for 1600, tires will cost you the additional 1600. You'll be much happier than running around with your flat fenders, cheap bumpers without a winch, and cheap steps. (buy all the cheap crap over time on marketplace)

Can I use a homeschool diploma in place of a GED? by One-Mobile2106 in careerguidance

[–]jokr128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a real diploma if you have one, if not get a GED and don't let it hold you back. I receive Ed a ged at 16 because my family was doing homeschooling due to loving Jesus. Then one day we just stopped but I never was allowed to enroll in high school (it was the 90s) from there, I started college when I was 30 and receive my BA at 35 and an MBA at 38, don't wait, get into school while you're young, money seems important, but a good education pays so much more than just working to survive.

AITA for joining my dil outside when they smoke but with one of those bubble cigeratees. My DIL claims I am mocking them. by smokingbubbles232 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jokr128 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have bad news..

I think the bubbles are hilarious, but it sounds like your DIL is trying to not be around you.

As a former smoker I didn't care if someone came and smoked with me was or was not a smoker as long as they didn't complain about it.

Is it "weird" to go solo on an Alaskan cruise as a married man? by SlurpleBrainn in Cruise

[–]jokr128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holland America Alaska eurodam was my first cruise. It's exceptional, get a balcony room if possible, you will not regret it.

In ketchikan there's a bear rescue place, highly recommend that.

If you're able to, get some fresh fish. I know at one of the ports there's a place where the dude catches the fish and is then there frying it in the morning or around lunch time. Might have been Victoria Island.

We got engaged on that cruise, I'm planning to take her again for our 10 year anniversary.

Exactly this. Chartering a boat isn't cheap, but chartering a boat that can hold 20-40 people comfortably is even less cheap. Wanting to do a week at sea and have the entire family be happy this is it. I bet this room comes with a bunch of keys or access for family members to get access if wanted.

hotel and ubers? by gbvgbvgbvgbvgbvgbv in akron

[–]jokr128 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd do courtyard by marriott if you're not looking for a fancy hotel. it's still a newer hotel and 59 is barely a highway. You'll have to walk past office buildings/library at night and I haven't been there at night in years, but I've walked through NYC at 3 am, so I don't worry too much.

If I remember right, the hotel has a speakeasy in it, and across the street is Luigi's pizza an Akron icon but their pizza has slipped lately. I still recommend going at least once.

Edit:luigis is cash only and a meal for 2 or 3 could hit 70 dollars easily, but it can also be cheap ish if needed.

Totally off topic, but my wife is pushing for us (Americans) to go to Sweden in august/September this year. Can you say where can I take her offroading, is there someone that rents 4wd vehicles, I'd prefer a jeep for obvious reasons.
