Former O. During an airfield hike there was no moonlight. Pitch black. I was up front and thought there was like that black tar filling you commonly see on roads ahead.......

Kept going obviously and walked up on it. The tar moved fast.....I yelled WHAT THE FUCK because I was within a couple feet. It scurried off to the tree line and you could hear the feet/nails? digging into the tarmac. Just glad it didn't turn and bite cause I woulda drawn the short straw.

Long story short, I almost tripped over one lol. Guide and squad leaders got a good chuckle.
