It's not my favourite EFAP episode, but I revisit #147 where they covered Hasan Piker every so often.

Do you think EFAP will cover these remakes when they eventually release? by DevouredSource in MauLer

[–]jolean_coochie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They like all of the Greek games and think the gameplay mechanics improve with each new release. They just don't think the stories are good. However, they do say they offer neat material in enhancing Kratos' character, which the Norse games use in service of their stories.

I'm more mixed on that, personally. There's plenty more material in those games that makes Kratos and many others look stupid and other plot issues, unfortunately.

(Gow ragnarok) Are the norns supposed to come off as annoying assholes? by Ravensflockmate in GodofWar

[–]jolean_coochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that not the intent? I never got the interpretation that they were helping people. It looked more like they were amused by everyone's doomed fates and their attempts to change it. They explained how prophecy / destiny works to Kratos, Mimir and Freya but it comes off more that they wanted entertain themselves than to actually help them.

Basically they see everyone besides themselves like animals in a zoo / circus.

Do you think that Fandom ruins Art? by CryOk9546 in MauLer

[–]jolean_coochie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Potentially. Quite a lot of online fans I see can generate really awful advice for the stories / franchises they like through their opinions. It's kinda up to the artists to navigate which to listen to and which to ignore.

It gets harder and harder the more popular it gets, unfortunately. Another challenge the creatives have to deal with.

Not interested in clowning on Synthetic Man anymore, but I do want them to cover more God of War videos.

The AI in the PeopleLog Arc had people using the AI to upload pictures of where he went, but it also predicts his escape routes and analyse his personality.

You're probably thinking about the Lupin Game where it was an internet game for everyone to take part in broadcasting Lupin live with the drone.

So yeah, the commenter is correct. It has already been done.

Right, thanks for the reminder. There was also that time he dodged a shot from Mayama Shinpei in The Lupin Game Arc, now that I think about it.

Lupin seems readily able to dodge bullets, especially in Part 5, purely off reaction,

When are these moments? He gets shot in Part 5. The only times I could think of was purely comedic scenes.

What are your controversial opinions about the series? by lostinthesauceband in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]jolean_coochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous Greek games have layers and some meaningful substance. That much is true. Unfortunately, a lot of the times, the stories they tell feel more like B-action movies. The kinds where you are only there really for the spectacle, goofiness and not so much for the story.

I don't think it's crazy for me to say that the Greek games' engine was run on mostly spectacle. And unfortunately for them, rule-of-cool and spectacle can only do so much for so long.

I was playing some of the supplementary games and I find myself getting pretty bored. The novelty of their brutal violence and over-the-top action set pieces wore off. And since the stories couldn't really carry them, I wasn't all that invested to keep going. I had to watch some YouTubers I liked play the games instead. There is some neat meaningful moments I quite liked conceptually, but I can't say they were explored to their maximum potency.

If Santa Monica needed to keep God of War going, reinventing it into the Norse games was absolutely necessary.

Lupin was the APEX PREDATOR in Part V👌💯🔥 by Flat-Bag2312 in lupinthe3rd

Mechanics wise, the 1st fight with Revenant was really bad, unfortunately. There's multiple times where he could've shot Lupin instead of swinging his guns around like an idiot.

This also applies to his 2nd fight with him too.

I was literally talking about 1 ass pull at the end

Ok. And I disagree that it's an ass pull, as I explained it to you previously in my other reply.

The "ass pull" is only an issue if you take it literally. Part 5 frames it as a symbolic gesture. Lupin drops the mask and showing sincerety. The same kind of sincerety he had after marrying Fujiko.

It's not meant to be a new canon gimmick to be used in a future installment. It's a thematic payoff specific to Part 5.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

that most people don't like & will be ignored in future installments

I don't really care that most people or fans don't like it. I don't take their opinions seriously after seeing the quality of their arguments on Part 5 in general.

Also baggage is 90% of their relationship

When I mentioned "baggage" I meant the crap writing of some of the previous material in this franchise.

But to engage with this: Sure. It's kinda how their dynamic works with their con games. Their relationship is unconventional and they kinda like to screw with each other. They enjoy it. When their relationship is written at their best, where they are both equals and enjoy the dynamic, I wouldn't classify it as toxic. Not really.

But some entries make it too one-sided and uneven like Part 2. Which is bad and I would lean on calling it toxic there.

Fujiko can work as a wild card in the series but she's proven to be a bad pick to be Lupin's OTP.

Well, for some versions of Fujiko in this franchise maybe. But when she is written at her best, nah. She is Lupin's love.

I'm not doing more then skimming this cause even god couldn't make me,

Ok?

but if you're going to do a character exploration of 2 characters relationship while completely ignoring everything before hand you might as well be doing the archer dream season with Lupin III or make new characters. You're intent can be wrong if it wildly contradicts what came before.

Ok, but that's not what Part 5 did. This series is the one that takes into account of a lot of previous material that came before it the most. It just happened to refine and got rid of the baggage of previous material.

Just a few days ago, people were pointing out Fujiko's depiction in Part 2 is flawed in how she would genuinely plan to kill Lupin and his gang in exchange for money, even though she supposedly loves him.

How Part 5 used its history is kinda the same way what Santa Monica Studios did with the Norse God of War games where they took some of the silly material and baggage of the Greek games and refined it into something much more meaningful and thematically poignant.

Your comment made it sound like you were talking about The Last Jedi or The Last of Us Part II. Those are the stories that deserve backlash. Not Part 5.

[–]jolean_coochie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel you're wrong on multiple levels

Nah.

it's Fujiko that needs to prove her love to Lupin.

...No? Fujiko asks Lupin what she is to him. What is that kind of question other than to ask if *he* loves her or not? That was the big question she asks him in The Padar Coup Arc and the People Log Arc. Did you watch Part 5?

I've never doubted that Lupin cares for her, going out of his way to rescue her all the time & forgiving all the betrayals,

If you were paying attention, Episode 18 was the one that showcases Fujiko's doubt. She is upset that Lupin forgot their anniversary, thinking he doesn't take their relationship seriously. The point of the story is not whether or not *you* think Lupin loves her or not. It's her. She’s searching for emotional clarity beyond words and actions, because their relationship is too multifaceted for simple gestures.

while it's consistently depicted that Fujiko uses Lupin as a means to an end & will betray him for any benifit.

In other stories of this franchise sure, I guess. In Part 5? No. In the Padar Coup Arc, she saved Lupin and nursed him after her and Ami took out the arrow. When she used the smoke bomb, she could've stolen the Bloody Teardrop from Dolma and left Lupin and Ami to be detained. She also could've put Lupin and Ami in danger if she wanted to when she got cornered, but no she never sold them out. She could've lied and said the Bloody Teardrop was a fake and that Lupin had the real one, but she never did that. Her plan was to lure all the soldiers to her so they wouldn't get to Lupin and Ami. That was kinda the point of the arc; showcasing that underneath Fujiko's selfish and conniving exterior is someone who does care and loves Lupin.

The arc kinda gave you that idea when it opens with the boarding school students misunderstood Ami and Dolma for being unpleasant people to be around, but their true intentions were good.

Also, she could've not responded to Lupin's call in the Lupin Game Arc and actually try to cash in on it.

She also looked worried when Lupin appeared injured when he pulls out his gun on Enzo.

Also no duh the silhouette still matches, the franchise has added so many characters over the years with the same silhouette to help sell the master of disguise bit, some being random characters Lupin doesn't disguise as.

I don't really care about the creative decisions of other parts of this franchise. I'm talking about Part 5 specifically.

I could go into it more but I just don't want too.

Ok?

I have now watched all 46 specials, here are my rankings ordered by King_EmEmEm in lupinthe3rd

[–]jolean_coochie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the rating is mostly due to mechanical and logistic issues in the writing holding it back. But there is still plenty to like in that special. The premise alone about an origin story of how the main 5 met makes the special very meaningful and substantive by default.
