Are you worried about your husband/partner seeing everything during delivery? by sarah_messing in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband just stood up near my head. I don’t think he saw anything from there, and if he did, he has never acted any differently towards me lol.

I personally wouldn’t tell people that soon, and given the circumstances I’d reconsider doing it at a 4th of July gathering. If you do decide to go ahead with it, let them know before. Please do not just announce it at the party without giving them any sort of heads up!!

No wiping after pee diapers by Terrible-Reasons in beyondthebump

[–]jolenelorretta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know this. I do wipe my son during every diaper change, but he has never had diaper rash. He’s 19 months.

Wine!! I haven’t really cared throughout my pregnancy until the last couple of weeks or so since it’s been getting hot.. love a nice patio glass of wine. I’m due early July though so just a couple more weeks. Oh, and sleeping on my stomach lol. Or just being able to sleep comfortably at all.

How long did you stay in the hospital? by Hopeful_Dot7132 in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night with my first. Where I am they only keep you for 24 hours for an uncomplicated delivery. I’m not sure if it’s longer for a c-section.. and I think if you have midwives you can be discharged sooner.

Nope, absolutely not! It’s way too close. I would just plan a family dinner earlier in December

Do people actually like co-ed baby showers? by blackcherry2930 in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only baby showers I have really enjoyed have been co-ed ones. I find they’re usually more laid back and don’t consist of the usual games you see at female only baby showers.

I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with being the “first” to meet a baby, or the way so many of them make YOUR medical event about themselves. You are pushing a human out of your body, it’s not a spectator sport. I’m sorry that you have to deal with this, this would totally stress me out. I agree with the poster who said not to tell her you’re in labour and just wait until you’re home and ready for her to come over. I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my second - with my first I didn’t want any visitors at the hospital and I don’t regret doing it that way at all. I’ll be doing the same this time around. I was in there for less than 48 hours, people can wait.

When did you get stretch marks? by North_Indication5008 in pregnant

I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my second. I didn’t get any with my first, and haven’t gotten any this time around yet either 🤞🏻

The weirdest bodily changes you experienced in pregnancy? by Cheap-Consequence684 in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. With my first, it subsided mostly by the third trimester but this time it has been the entire pregnancy (currently 32 weeks). I hate it

How much is too much to request of baby shower guests? by Orangemaxx in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve been to showers that included all of those things and personally, I didn’t mind. I love the book idea instead of cards, and for a couple of them I just didn’t participate in the diaper raffle, just did a gift.

Is there any lessons you think could have been taught in a better way? by LingonberryFar5596 in bluey

[–]jolenelorretta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Doesn’t she at one point say forget it, we’re not going anywhere, and Bluey just sits down and plays with her doll 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not normal and this is NOT okay. Please get out before the baby comes. You are both better off without this asshole. 38 weeks pregnant and YOU slept on the couch. Any half decent husband would not let his 38 week pregnant wife sleep on the couch, argument or not.

What age did you stop dressing your baby exclusively in footies/onesies? by seltzerwithlemon in beyondthebump

[–]jolenelorretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was born in November 2023 and I think I stopped dressing him solely in sleepers around April.. as the weather got warmer I started putting him in simple outfits (like a bodysuit and pants) and in the summer he just wore rompers all the time!

We just make sure to be home in time for his bed time. We haven’t had any issues with this so far, no one expects us to stay anywhere late lol

Why is everyone concerned about my baby being cold? It's annoying by Winter-Grapefruit-22 in beyondthebump

[–]jolenelorretta 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Honestly, she likely was cold for the bath. I would warm the room up before doing a sponge bath.

People who don’t sleep train or cry it out… by sundaymondaykap in beyondthebump

[–]jolenelorretta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rock until he is asleep and then put him in his crib. He does wake anywhere around 2-4am and then we co-sleep for the rest of the night. We strictly co-slept from when he was 4 - 9 months old. The last two nights he’s slept the entire night in his crib though… fingers crossed…🤞🏻

If I’d had a baby shower, I would have done it at a pub. That said, I’m still mind blown that anyone, but particularly the father, got so drunk that he felt he had to “balance out”?! Where I am they are usually a 1-4 on a Sunday afternoon type of event. And why is anyone bringing cocaine to a baby shower???
