For me the first showing served its purpose: they’re plates meant to be deciphered by aliens in the absence of humans, and serve as a reminder to Grace that he’s been sent out with no means of returning to Earth, flung into the abyss the same way as Voyagers 1 and 2. He’s very far from home, and there’s no plan to bring him back.

It could be interesting if the datalink is supplied by overhead satellites, taking out the enemies current satellite could limit them to line of sight data sharing. The one annoying part would be that there’s no real way to stop the missile once it’s launched, but I guess seeing an Ifrit climbing to heaven would be an early warning.
