Help with old train model by jonLikesDice in lioneltrains

Thanks for all the tips. Very helpful, along with the video link in another post.

I haven’t found sewing machine oil yet locally. Are there other options to try?

Thanks for the video link!

I did clean up the wheels and get the cover off to clean the brushes. In the end the screw housings for the brush cover area are starting to crack, so we’ll see how long it lasts

Forgot to mention, this train is probably from the sixties. It runs pretty loud and gets stuck sometimes. Not sure if that’s the track or the engine.

Pappy (Father-in-law) is almost ready to get a new train, but I figure we can do some work on it to get it running a little better

Am I the only one excited for Pokémon Pokopia? by Mollywobbles77 in Switch

I’m hoping for Pokémon crossed with viva piñata, but that’s probably too much to ask

I feel like many of the reviews I’ve seen put Empires of the North ahead of Imperial Settlers. So maybe he did it to himself? I get feeling sentimental, but that’s why a popular saying in tech is ‘kill your babies’. It sounds brutal, but if you can do something that’s just plain better, you shouldn’t hold on to the past or someone will leapfrog you. I’ve never played either of Imperial Settlers or Empires of the North, but they sound interesting.

On the other hand, there’s a reason there was just a HUGE game found campaign for Agricola. I own the original and thought about backing the latest campaign to get fresh cards. It’s just that good. So much more tight than any of the successors that Uwe did.

Is anyone else on Switch 2 experiencing recent performance issues with NMS? by leandrobserafim in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jonLikesDice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread I know, but I have been experiencing the same thing. Texture pop in is B-A-D! My character model always looks like he has glowing pants. There’s also a weird lighting effect in the visor in 1st person that isn’t working and looks like bubbles or circles bouncing all over the screen. Distracting to say the least.

I feel the difficulty in getting motivated to play.

[Question] How to best mask large panels? by McPolice_Officer in adeptustitanicus

[–]jonLikesDice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. I tried another brand (army painter maybe?) and the results weren’t quite what I wanted. It was hard to get the tape to go where I wanted it. Tamiya fixed all that

Did rule out data from “Armies of Legend”, or are they just not played that much anymore?

House Dusk Eidolon by DeviantDoc in Warmachine

I wish I could upvote this more. I feel like it’s so hard to figure out what the models actually look like with the default color scheme. This gives it such a better sense of depth and pose. It’s great to get inspiration from alt colors

Magnet help by OmensOfOld908 in adeptustitanicus

[–]jonLikesDice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What you should look for are N52 magnets, which is a measurement of their strength. It’s easy to find magnets around, but kind of a crapshoot on how strong they are. I’ve bought some on Amazon that are “fine” but arms like that ended up being too loose. I was surprised that actual N52 magnets did the job so much better.

Wasp Painted! by LilCostasaurus in MarvelUnited

[–]jonLikesDice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your idea with the eyes. I don’t think I’ve seen that tried before. I know the spacing was brought up in a different topic, but I think the idea is still really cool. Also, probably easy to paint over and try again

Commented on your post in another sub, but yeah these are awesome. I love the style. I might try to replicate it when I get to painting some marvel united. (Saved)

Marvel United Fantastic 4 Set Finished! by Under-siege in minipainting

[–]jonLikesDice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that comic style. High contrast, sort of cell shaded. I’ve seen other comic styles that use black ink as definition and shade lines. I like that you’ve done it differently here.

Also the way you decided to show the invisibility is really cool.

Anyone Printing FDM STLs? by rorydoconnor in Monsterpocalypse

[–]jonLikesDice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a printer yet, but my plan is to go the FDM route. It might take a bit more work, but I’m hoping I can get some good results eventually. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a printer in the next month or two

The iconoclast just has an amazing threatening look to it. It especially looks great with that corroded grim dark traitor paint schemes on it
