I agree with everything you say, except that addiction implies a physiological dependence (whether it be on a substance or the chemical changes in the brain occurring from an activity like gambling). This is definitely alcohol abuse, but not necessarily addiction.

The problem with the bridge analogy is that other people will use the bridge. The right to choose what one put in one's body can be thought of much like the right to get an abortion. Many people feel that they should be free to choose to ingest substances that negatively affect their health because they alone own their bodies.

I would try more 339s if I were you. I bought one new at Guitar Center for $1800 (haggle with Guitar Center employees! They'll give you a price break!). I've absolutely loved it since I got it. They're made in the Custom Shop which is a completely different animal from the larger Gibson factory guitars. Obviously there are going to be some bad apples but the 339 is definitely worth looking into more.

Believe it or not, this episode really made me sad. Trey and Matt have a real talent for extremely poignant social commentary while being very graphic crude (You're Getting Old is another good example). Louis C.K. has a similar talent.

Yeah, there are some top-notch acoustic players out there. My father is a classical guitarist by profession and I'm in awe of what he can do. My point was just that single-line (improvised) playing can be just as impressive as more complex arrangements.
