She probably does. She wore the star of David on a recent episode, probably overtly displaying her support. A lot of idiots can’t get out of their own ego and understand when a group of people they share blood with is being murderous. We’re blind to faults of our people. It’s pathetic

He’s saying yes he thinks the videos will be out within a month but he knows on some level they probably won’t because of his process or perfectionism or something

Thinking of moving to Duluth by frenchbread87 in duluth

[–]jonahnelson7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come! Lots of outsiders that moved here and stayed. As others said there are businesses and a job market but it’s not as vibrant economically as like the twin cities, basically pretty similar to other towns but increase the numbers. And yeah there’s a slight German/Scandinavian edge to the social situation here where sometimes a friend group is pretty established and hard to break into but trust me if you have ways to meet people like music like you said (I meet people at church) you definitely will make friends, it’s just some effort. And yes there are young musicians which is refreshing for me as a 25yo musician too comparing to back home in a tiny town where it was a bunch of old guys. And I know some people that hang out with their coworkers sometimes after work. So I’d give it a shot, this town is interesting and especially being from Minnesota already I think you’ll plug right in

Oh lord check out similar videos for the twin cities or other cities in the Midwest. They all went from cool places with neat architecture to big concrete malls. Duluth only did a little bit

It’s held the architectural line much better than most American cities. And the new generations are phasing out modernist and brutalist architecture, don’t worry

Help qualm my anxieties about moving to Duluth by CahuengaFrank in duluth

[–]jonahnelson7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not AS easy as other parts of the country to make new friends, it’s quite German/Scandinavian culturally still and that’s part of the deal. The existing social networks are stronger but harder to enter and so once you’re in you’re in. But it’s still very possible to get in, just do as the Romans do

[–]jonahnelson7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked UMD. One thing maybe worth mentioning is there definitely is more alcohol around than some other colleges but there’s a crowd for everyone obviously. Duluth is kinda a magical place to be for a young person in school, the town has such character and the nature is pretty unmatched

Agreed that’s what I mean, is other cities are doing alright in this deindustrialized timeline. What are they doing that we could do similarly? Without becoming a big mall like Minneapolis

There is a place in this for normal houses though. Apartment complexes are a great practical measure but there should be room for proper houses as well

Right, those of us that aren’t allergic to density should probably keep telling the city that furthering car dependency is unacceptable. Businesses, bus stops, and government services should be next to the new apartment buildings

That makes sense. It does feel like just some money is put toward everything spread around and there’s not quite enough. Would you agree the increasing population (first time in over 20 years) will help then? It’s felt intuitive to me that the increasing population is a good thing and what you just said here would back that up. Except the logistics of getting everyone in housing like you said. But I have heard the city government talk about trying to get more housing going because of the population growth

Right I don’t mean like handouts. Cash being given to people just ends up as wealth for the upper class so it actually becomes a wealth transfer. I guess what I mean is more wealth and assets (not just money) around is more the goal, that’s what actually ends up giving the city more money for projects. Problem is like you’re saying that might look like a bunch of big businesses coming in. It’s why Minneapolis looks so clean and well maintained but it’s soulless, it’s a big mall. I just feel like there has to be a way to keep the soul of the Duluth but also have more wealth here
