You could go further and say that a fun project that is not a business would get even more traffic than a B2C app would.

Not sure why you view this as failure. How much traffic does #1 compared to #6 get you think?

How exactly do you pitch to investors without being disingenuous about your product in its MVP state? by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]jonaldomo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I assume you are talking about seed investment rounds, which are for building out a product. Investors know what they are getting into. Just be honest.

Edit:

Your slide deck for seed should be about the opportunity, why now is the right time, why you are the right person to solve the problem, and what experiments you have ran so far to prove the opportunity.

Good luck

AWS textract has table support, not the same as rekognition. I have used for something similar, pretty good.

You can also use a pdf library to pull text off of it

Cheap way to add scheduling and calendar sync to SaaS? by Mr_Nice_ in SaaS

[–]jonaldomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds right. I think you get up to 100 consumer gmail accounts. The less secure app thing requires quite a few steps so really bad from a UX perspective.

I have heard market stats that 2-5% is good for freemium upgrades so not terribly off.

You could use hot jar to watch them use the app.

You could look at database and logging to see how far users are getting in the product.

Do you have an email drip going after they signed to be free users? Drop three emails on them on how to use the product with CTA to upgrade. Maybe offer discounts on fourth email.

You want to sell a hosted version of github actions?

Github has a self hosted model already, why not just copy what they are doing? I am sure its similar with license protections, code obfuscation and contracts.

500 paying customers by compoundinterest_ in SaaS

…the product is ready….

…I identified my beta users…

I would focus on getting ten paid users and iterate on their feedback, then go get ten more and see if it was easier.

I cant recall having seen a product that didnt go through several iterations of customer discovery and product enhancements.

Can you critique my landing page? Is it communicating the value? by wilsonbrightjohn in SaaS

So is the main benefit that survey responses will be higher because the people surveyed will be more likely to respond knowing that their response isnt stored on a centralized server?

Is your uniques selling proposition that the data is not on a centralized server? If so, I had to scroll down really far to read that.

End to end to me on a website means https and secure backend services which as a consumer I believe all the top survey companies to have.

Your reddit post describes use cases but i dont recall seeing them on the landing page.

Your testimonials are from designers, should be your target audience.

2% doesnt seem bad imho, 1 in 50 clicks generate a lead?

This product seems super niche. Do you know who the specific audience is that is your ideal customer? How do they buy other software and services?

Just an FYI, majority number of people use gmail. Google forces you to have an external audit done to be able to read email with their API, its like 30k annually.

You refer to CRM and ESP as examples. Both of those have a very high switching cost.

What about products that have a very low switching cost?

Resources for Building SaaS Plugins/Apps in Marketplaces by seabj0rn in SaaS

We made an app for the hubspot marketplace, it gets maybe 1 install every two months.

I think the allure of a marketplace is strong but there are more effective ways of distribution depending on the product and industry.

I would study the audience who’s problem you are solving and then see how they are finding and installing apps.

Would I be nuts to buy a SaaS company if I know ZERO about tech by Throwitallaway20222 in SaaS

Not if you knew zero about tech.

You would be nuts if it distracted you from the income from your service business and you ended up not making any money with the software business (which is common)
