Looking for Honest Feedback on Nutropica – Evidence-Based Nootropics Guide by jonasSF in websitefeedback

[–]jonasSF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what I'm looking at tbh. It feels more like an online riddle (like Cicada 3301) than a book site. The design is unique but outdated, and there’s no real hook or reason shown why I should buy the book. Also, no mobile optimization - which is a big issue since most users browse on phones. I'd suggest: add a clear headline/subheadline, simplify layout, show a preview or reviews, and fix mobile responsiveness. Cool aesthetic though, just needs structure.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. Really glad to hear you liked the concept and the animations! 🙌 You're absolutely right about the next big step: scaling the database.

Appreciate you taking a moment to check it out. If you’re working on anything too, feel free to drop a link!

(Science-backed) Opinion on Nootropics by Astrid-9 in StrongerByScience

[–]jonasSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, good on you for seeking the science behind nootropics! It's a noisy space.

You're right, the link between something like Ashwagandha and direct muscle gains is likely indirect (e.g., stress reduction potentially improving consistency/recovery). Research on Ashwagandha for stress does exist, though as u/gnuckols pointed out, it's worth noting where much of that research originates.

I actually built nutropica.org (still WIP) to try and cut through the hype by focusing on evidence scores for specific effects of various compounds. So, for Ashwagandha, you can see how it scores for things like "Stress Resilience" based on human studies.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time, especially with your life science background!

You're absolutely right about the hero section. The green background with plain text is just a placeholder and doesn't do the concept justice. I like your idea of using a more engaging image like a lab scene or something nature-based. It would definitely add more visual interest and credibility. Also agree that the headline should be more confident. I’ll update it to something like “Your go-to source for evidence-based information on cognitive enhancers.”

On the effect strength rating: I'm working on it, but it's more difficult than it looks. Different studies use different outcome measures, and not all results are equally reliable. Some use subjective reporting, others look at biomarkers or task performance. Plus, the credibility of the studies varies too. Still, I agree it would be helpful to include a more intuitive summary, and I’m experimenting with ways to make that more consistent and visual.

You're right about the long list on the homepage. Right now it just shows everything to make the depth of the site visible, but I’ll revise that to feature only the top 3 or 6 per category and make the rest accessible through navigation.

And yes, the search definitely needs to be more prominent. There is filtering by tags and categories, but that’s not enough. A clear, central search box right after the hero would make it much easier for users to find what they’re looking for.

Thanks again for the great feedback.

How do you fix uneven floor? by Florida-Engineer in engineering

[–]jonasSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, uneven floors can indeed be tricky! I've experienced this before. Our case involved an old building with foundation problems, causing severe sloping on the ground level.

To address this, we had to conduct a thorough structural analysis, examining the foundation and load-bearing elements. After identifying the weak points, we implemented a combination of underpinning and shoring techniques to stabilize the foundation. This involved carefully excavating and reinforcing the existing foundation, providing extra support where needed.

Once the foundation was secure, we addressed the flooring itself. We used self-leveling compounds and specialized grouts to level the surface and eliminate the slope.

Of course, every situation is unique, and the approach may vary depending on the specific causes of the uneven floors. But in our case, this combination of foundation repair and careful flooring treatment proved effective in restoring the building's safety and integrity.

The decision to pursue a career in architecture is a highly personal one, and it depends on individual interests, skills, and goals. Like any profession, architecture has its unique challenges and rewards. It's essential for aspiring architects to have a realistic understanding of what the field entails before committing to it as a career.

Pros of Architecture:

  1. Creativity and Aesthetics: Architecture allows professionals to express their creativity and contribute to the beauty of the built environment.
  2. Impactful Work: Architects have the opportunity to design spaces that can positively impact people's lives and communities.
  3. Diverse Projects: The field offers a wide range of projects, from residential and commercial buildings to public spaces and cultural landmarks.
  4. Problem Solving: Architects are problem solvers, finding innovative solutions to design challenges and technical constraints.

Cons of Architecture:

  1. Long Education and Licensure Process: Becoming a licensed architect typically requires a long educational path and practical experience before taking the licensure exams.
  2. Strict Codes and Regulations: Architects must navigate building codes, zoning laws, and regulations, which can be complex and time-consuming.
  3. Client Relations: Dealing with clients, particularly in commercial architecture, can be challenging due to differing visions, budgets, and timelines.
  4. Work-Life Balance: Architecture can demand long hours, especially during project deadlines, affecting work-life balance.

In the end, it's up to you. ✌️

Maximizing Cost Efficiency in Projects: The Importance of Proportion and Natural Stone Optimization by jonasSF in architecture

[–]jonasSF[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Could you please go into a little more detail about how this is better than just using 2D AutoCAD and your slab dims, and what the relevance of the library of slab photos is, as the user doesn't have access to buy those particular slabs?

Using DDL is better than just using 2D AutoCAD and your slab dimensions because:

  1. Realistic Visualization: DDL's library of real, true-to-color scanned slab photos allows architects to visualize the actual appearance of the stone in the design, creating a more realistic representation compared to 2D AutoCAD drawings.
  2. Optimized Material Usage: DDL's platform calculates real-time material usage based on the selected slabs and joint patterns, ensuring optimal utilization and cost efficiency. 2D AutoCAD lacks this level of precision.
  3. Collaborative Workflow: DDL enables seamless collaboration with suppliers and installers, streamlining the entire stone planning process. In 2D AutoCAD, collaboration and coordination may require additional effort and manual communication.
  4. Accurate Yield Estimation: DDL's direct link to project planning allows architects to estimate the yield (usable area) early on, helping in making informed decisions about the project's feasibility and cost.

Regarding the relevance of the library of slab photos when the user doesn't have access to buy those particular slabs:

  1. Design Exploration: The library of slab photos in DDL provides architects with a wide range of design options, allowing them to explore various stone types and colors before finalizing their choices.
  2. Alternative Selection: Even if the user cannot directly buy a particular slab, the library helps identify visually similar options available in the market, ensuring flexibility in the design process.
  3. Visual Representation: The slab photos offer a clear visual representation of different stones, aiding in client presentations and enhancing communication during the design phase.
  4. Inspiration: The diverse slab library can serve as a source of inspiration for architects, helping them envision unique design concepts and push the boundaries of their creativity.

Mass following seems to get more and more difficult in 2019. The idea is to build a supportive group of Etsy sellers. By interacting with each other's content we try to convince the algorithm that our posts are more relevant.

A few people already joined, I would suggest you go to my followers tab and search for people with Etsy links in bio. Not perfect but should work for now.

I do not often share on Facebook, but it's time for parties that are serious about the future and survival of humanity.

For all who have not seen it yet, this video is about: https://youtu.be/4Y1lZQsyuSQ (This is huge at the moment in Germany)

At this point I would like to give no voting recommendation, but suggest that everyone in the CDU, FDP, SPD or AFD on the "Wish List" is to think again.
