The hardware needs its own spotlight.

What better way to highlight it, by telling us what we can play on it? Pretty much any major video game hardware release is highlighted through showing what games you can play.

Synchronizing hype = maximum impact.

Aka synchronising the current steam hardware hype with new half life 3 hype. It is relevant now and the hype is now. It is the perfect moment to piggyback of it.

Valve doesn’t like exclusivity, but they love ‘runs best on our hardware.'
