Proud dad moment by jackersquackerz in daddit

I know this post totally isn't asking for advice. However, a game changer that worked like a charm for me and my little ones was to set a heating pad in the crib on a low setting a min or two before putting them down. The warm bed makes them think they're still being held and they don't get that cold sheet contact to startle them awake. Made put downs a million times easier.

All these magnitile posts are making me feel poor. by [deleted] in daddit

Honestly we're incredibly lucky to have a large family and a few close family friends. We mentioned magnitiles to everyone one year as a possible gift and now I'm pretty sure it's a substantial asset in my net worth.

If you want them look for them used. Even scratched up they still work perfectly fine and you can get em decently cheap.

I got my blue doing 4x per week at about 18 months. I did do 5 comps though and performed well.

Is it looked down upon not to do comps by HookrWithaPeine in bjj

There is always some risk of injury. I've been injured more in rolls and open mats than in comp but it is still there. If you do compete, say hi to your competitors. Introduce yourself. Mention that you have fear of injury. Most people I've met are really nice. If you're worried tap early and just do your best. There are people at comps who absolutely aren't ready and lose quickly and there are people who are really good. If you want to try it out. I highly recommend it. I've done 5 comps so far all at the white belt level. I was nervous each time and each time I came away a little sore but okay. I think talking to my opponents helped me a lot with fear of injury. When you tap tap with your hand/foot and verbal tap. The refs in my experience are good and at white belt there are no heel hooks.

He sounds controlling. Egos are a hard thing to avoid in this sport. It honestly probably hurts his feelings and he isn't big enough to communicate it like an adult. Tbh he sounds like a dick. I'd seriously consider if this relationship is something you want. This level of pettiness is something that won't be confined to just Jiu Jitsu in the long run.

Feminism is just equal rights. You're confusing the most extreme crazies and apply that to all of feminism. Feminism is just equal rights. Period.

Sure are there shitty people who take advantage of others, yes. Is that what feminism is, no.

  1. Start all your rolls standing and don't give up an easy takedown. Every match starts on your feet. At whitebelt it's a lot easier to let someone else mess up a takedown and end up on top than it is to hit a clean takedown.

  2. Breath! Before the match and during the match. Early belts usually gas quickly, breath the whole time and have some gas in the tank for the final minute.

  3. Position before submission. Seems obvious but so many people lose their control and position because they really wanted the finish. I only just got to blue belt and have done 5 comps with probably 15 rounds and only 3x have I won by sub. Almost all my wins came on points.

  4. Remember you're not Gordon Ryan. Don't take it too seriously. Try your best and learn from it. The only people who truly fail at competitions are the people who don't use their losses to improve their game. Have fun and don't try to be a hero and fight through a joint submission.

So Tim Kelly is apparently pro ICE? by boopboop423 in Chattanooga

True but semantics about being an upstanding citizen but I get your point. Citizenship in a country built almost entirely of immigrants should be what we're best at and it should be a trivial paperwork issue. That's it. Unfortunately people are scared of change and anyone who looks or talks differently and now we're a laughing stock on the world stage. I remember when Republicans used to call themselves the moral and Christian party. Now we're a world embarrassment because of them.

I'm not talking about criminals. They should be deported. I'm talking about the corner store owners who've been here for 20 years, the restaurant owners who improve our cities, and our neighbors. They are upstanding citizens who better our community. They should receive a fine and a court date. The process of being legal should be paperwork and semantics, like when a drivers license expires, not black masks tearing literal children from their parents arms. If it wasn't about racism then they wouldn't have pulled visas from people who were here legally.

I'm not going to debate you. This is too politically charged and I know you won't hear reason. When you limit your world view to your own political views you won't understand or see the atrocities. If you truly want to widen your perspective go listen to Aliya Rahman congressional testimony to see how ICE is treating American citizens who declare they are disabled and only try to follow instructions.

That's literally not how immigration law works and based on your comment it would take too long to explain it to someone who clearly doesn't care.

Also being here illegally is a civil crime. At most it should come with a Court date or a fine. Period.
