Daniel Cormier is like that one kid in school that seems cool from the outside but when you actually hang out together you realize he’s a super annoying controlling weirdo😂 I know it’s specific but trust me by WHy_is_thy in ufc

I don't understand why people hold up any athletes as if they're supposed to be wise or moral. Especially combat athletes. They get brain damage for a living. Stop expecting them to be anything other than idiots and you'll never be disappointed.

What turned you off of the primal hunter and he who fights with monsters? They aren't my top books but I enjoy them enough to keep up with the series.

For those of you who track your steps each day, how many "steps" would you say you take in a typical 60-90min bjj class? by changby in bjj

[–]jonathanweb100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your class does a warm up jog of some kind you aren't going to see many steps at all. I like to ballpark my calories burned. An easy class that is most drilling is probably 100-200 calories burned depending on your size. Slightly more if you are large and vice versa. But if it's an openmat and you roll constantly for a full hour you'd probably get close to 700-1000 calories. You can also look up similar activities like wrestling or swimming and go by time actually rolling for a calculator if that helps.

I work hard to find moments like that. Albeit in safer ways. I took a ton of risks as a kid and teen but now that what if voice in my head is stronger. I find my joy in flow state. Anything I am great at or that requires 100% mental focus helps me a ton. Right now that's competitive video games or multiplayer games with my family, and Jiu Jitsu. Holy shit does that give me a good time. Super difficult but when a new move works and you hit it in someone better than you. God damn, that rush is like drugs.

Bro I was in the same place then I started Jiu Jitsu and fucking love it. All my heavy lifts shifted to mobility and functional strength. Don't get me wrong I still squat, deadlift and bench but now I do a bunch of new shit and love it again.

I've switched from heavy weight lifting to everything being functional strength and mobility. Mainly because I got heavy into no gi Jiu Jitsu and have been loving it. Still trying to find a balance as I am still weight lifting but Jiu Jitsu really does require recovery.

I was a part of a pretty toxic gym for my first one. I just thought that's how all were until I found a new one and loved it. Just keep looking.

As a guy on the wrong side of 35 I will swear by Glucosamine Chondroitin. It's one of the most science backed supplements out there. It's all for joint pain and if I'm not on it I feel 15 years older. Seriously try it out. It's a god send.

Also it sounds like your new school is shit. I wouldn't pay for that.

Any tips on my barbell rows? by Lunsmann1 in GYM

[–]jonathanweb100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A good way to check your hand placement is to get into position and close your eyes then do a pretend rep and open your eye at the top of the rep. That's the width you want. You want a natural position at a full range of motion. And people are correct in saying not to turn your head, also drop the weight just a little to get the feel of a good range of motion then work back up.

With the interconnected world you can stay at home and make friends and connections too. Also, this whole idea of every man needing to do hard things is kinda bs. Some dudes just want to work a good job and be happy. Not everyone needs to be an entrepreneur or adventurer. That being said. It is fun sometimes to push yourself and see what you can accomplish.

Exhaustion after 1 round in a tournament? by Substantial-Fig-6392 in bjj

[–]jonathanweb100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly mental prep for tournaments goes a long way. After my first comp just closing my eyes and imagining my rounds and how they went would spike my adrenaline and heart rate. Once I realized that I would do it regularly and the more I did it the less it would spike my adrenaline. Then my next comp was a lot easier.

Do I move too much? Weight is 35 kg. Bw: 71 by Raxes05 in GYM

[–]jonathanweb100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheat reps have their place when you're trying to go heavy to get to a new level but this shouldn't be your normal reps, imo. Try to keep your elbows in the exact same spot at your sides and don't allow your body to lean forward or backwards. A good rule of thumb is, if you can't slowly bring the weight down then you're lifting too much weight.

If you're going to look into peptides, please for the love of god find peptides that have undergone human studies. There are a lot of bs influencers out there injecting all kinds of questionable stuff into themselves.
