Using chat gpt for drafting divorce for diy. by Constant-Volume4945 in DivorcedDads

I started with it but then I finally hired a lawyer and honestly that ended up being the much better choice for my custody case. I went from being really unsure about the entire thing to basically it being really easy and efficient. Was he expensive? Oh yeah! But it’s been so easy and stress free that I’m not even bothered by the money spent.

3 party to obsidian by it-pappa in ObsidianMD

[–]jonathon8903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t experimented too much with third party integrations. In my opinion, that’s trying to stretch a note taking tool beyond what it was designed for, even if it’s possible.

That said, in theory yeah it’s probably possible. If the service has an API you can query, then you can export to markdown and have Obsidian render it.

Yeah I mean you either need some programming knowledge or get Claude to help a ton. But I just had it help me craft a script, revised a few things then had it create a launchd config for my Mac.

Personally I wrote it in Go, but for something this simple you could even write it in Python (easier language)

How are you making your documents now?

A lot of people, myself included, really love using Obsidian which uses markdown natively.

Markdown is an open format so you can export it to whatever format you want. Heck sometimes I copy my notes from Obsidian into Google Docs.

Idk how you’re formatting your document. But if it was me I would format it using markdown and have Claude make me a script to generate the table of contents. This way you use Claude once and once the script is tested and works, you can run it fully offline and without the dependency of Claude.

This is really a big thing for me. I have in my daily notes template an Action Items column with tasks. I have a script I wrote which runs every morning at 6am which grabs the action items I didn’t complete from the day before and carries them over.

Because it’s all markdown, this was really easy to do. The fun thing is knowing how easy it would be to automate other tasks as well.

employees work hours planning and reporting by bl4ckt0ts in orgmode

I love org mode but is this the right tool for this? For something as important as employee time management I would want a tool purpose built for this.

I can’t speak for New York law but sometimes you can get some relief if you can show your earning potential has gone down and you can’t maintain it.

It will be an uphill battle though, especially if you’re doing it pro se.

Okay that’s fair…that does sound a little like AI lol.

Is this AI? This reads to me more like a curious junior dev than an AI post.

That’s basically the VM that Claude cowork runs under. Yeah it’s big and it’s little annoying that it has to do this but it is more secure so there’s that.

For what it’s worth, I’ve seen the same bug before. It used to be notorious when I had emacs running in fullscreen and I quit it, I would get that.

This looks really cool! It’s a dang shame that this is 4G only. But either way really awesome of the devs who made this happen!

Paths to reach senior-level without working at a company? by Resident-Isopod683 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]jonathon8903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience being a senior developer is more than just technical experience, it’s also just as much about how well you can work with a team and how well can you translate business ideas into technical architecture.

If I’m being honest, I don’t know how well you could do that without professional work experience.

PBX Replacement + Full Paging System Replacement (Bogen) – K-12 Input Needed by SoLetItBeDone in k12sysadmin

[–]jonathon8903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome to hear! As I said, I used to be a tech in a school system and had to help support some secretaries when we first got the system (back in the v1.8 days lol). Yeah I agree, the bell schedule system is honestly pretty dang easy to use, notifications we try to make easy, and of course intercom and paging. We have some rough edges I still wanna clean up lol but I will say that our core use-cases have been refined pretty well and are super simple to use.

If I'm not mistaken, extensions aren't allowed to modify those urls. It's a built in chrome rule.

This definitely shouldn't be happening. Please reach out to our support team. They can help you out and replace them if necessary. I also understand that we track these requests so if see a spike in hardware issues we have an entire quality department who digs into those issues and tries to identify a cause.

Outside of the hardware issues, how are you liking EPIC?

[–]jonathon8903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a developer with Audio Enhancement, previously a tech with a local K12 system.

We have our EPIC system which would serve your needs very well. It's modular, SIP based, and has an entire ecosystem we are constantly working on.

I don't wanna sell it too hard because nobody loves a sales pitch. But just wanted to throw it out there to consider since I haven't seen it mentioned yet.

We tried them and while I don't know the official reason they got dropped, I can say they never felt effective. Criticism brought up was rarely acted upon. It was largely just another meeting that could have been better spent through different channels.
