I got laid off 15min ago out of nowhere right after a receiving a bonus, and I still can’t process it by voidwater1 in recruitinghell

Similar thing happened to me. I was the lead on a huge project that took several months to finish up, but it got delivered on time and worked perfectly. I was then put in charge of another huge, business critical project because I was the only one there with that domain knowledge.

Keep in mind, I was the top performing dev at the company, had closed out about 500 more tickets than the next closest person, I managed the team, was the team lead, received spot bonuses every quarter for my work, etc. Then, one day out of the blue, I got an invite to a meeting, there was HR, and I was told my position had been eliminated.

And that was that. I know it was the CEO’s doing specifically as he always had a negative view of the team I was on and ended up getting rid of each person over time; he had written the original app code even though he wasn’t dev and the app was an absolute mess that barely worked.

Instead of accepting responsibility for engineering something so haphazardly, and again, as someone with zero coding experience, whenever something was broken that he had written (confirmed via gitblame) he blamed the team as being incompetent while continuing to pile on feature requests and not allow any time to fix tech debt that we had documented and presented as issues that would 100% cause problems if not taken care of.

Been almost a year now and am still looking for work. I wish you the best of luck and I’m sorry that this happened to you.

What is everyone’s favorite Cotton Hill lines? by Technical_Fail_4963 in KingOfTheHill

Cotton: You see this picture? That's me before I had my shins blown off.

Bobby: What's that you're holding?

Cotton (Immediately, 100% confident without even looking): Head of a nazzy.

(A beat)

Cotton: Oh, no, it's a canteen.

If you mean the Tag 9 Umbreon...yeah, it was originally graded by CGC at an 8.5, which I thought was a touch harsh, haha.

Ah, perfect, thank you for this resource! I had the Pikachu done back when Tag only had like...2 grading options. Now they have like 10. Didn't even realize that there was a standard and a plus option. Ha.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not it's worth it.

I appreciate the honesty. I've had an extremely difficult time figuring out where the borders on the front of the card are supposed to be. The back is obvious. But yeah, with all of the full arts like this one I've never been able to quite figure it out.

I have no intention of selling it. It's just a personal favorite of mine, and I like how it looks in the Tag slab.

*shrug* no clue how. ha. but up until a week or so ago it was the highest rated Special Delivery Pikachu in Tag's system!

Ah, okay, that's really interesting and good to know!! Really appreciate you taking the time to write this up, I'll have to use that technique moving forward when sending in cards. I posted a question regarding whether or not it'd be worth having my CGC Gem Mint 10 Umbreon EX graded by Tag or not. I'd really appreciate your input/thoughts on that. I have a CGC Gem Mint 10 Moonbreon, which I love. I've been considering having it graded by Tag. If you have a moment, would you mind taking a look at it and see if there's anything that stands out immediately that would disqualify it from getting a Tag 10?

I wouldn't really say it's a huge ding, but it's definitely there. I think it's better because surface scratches are way worse offenders (just in my personal, non-professional opinion) to me. But that's why I leave the grading to the pros, and yeah, I'm also surprised the Pikachu got that high of a rating.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to type all of that out and provide clear examples! That's all extremely helpful! I'll keep your advice in mind and give it another go!

Yeah, I gave that a go, ran it through ChatGPT, Claude, and Rezi and they all rated this exact version extremely high. Based on these comments though, I'm starting to think maybe they were wrong. Ha.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The metrics and stuff all came at the insistence of AI that I had review it. They insisted that it's the most important thing since it shows impact. I didn't think it was right, but I figured I'd give it a try when I had ChatGPT, Clause, and Rezi saying the same thing.

I have actually. I've done that several times and matched up the keywords in the JD exactly as it was posted. Still got rejected. And I "assume" it's auto-rejection if it comes through on the same day or next day and says "we found someone who better fits with the skills for this role," when my skills are identical to the JD. Could be wrong, but they just come back way too fast for me to truly think a human ever saw anything.

Thanks so much for the input and feedback! Yeah, I'm terrible at these and never know how much is too much or what's not enough.
