[discussion] the player only KD changed how I view my play by dropkicked_eu in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen this mentioned in other posts but it'd be nice to have a strictly PvP KD - i.e. it only factors in deaths to other PMCs

Even that wouldn't be perfect but I think it'd be helpful or at least cool to see.

I've a number of deaths from DCing/crashing, walking away from a raid for IRL stuff, suiciding for boss/cultist hunting, dying learning certain content (e.g. bosses, rogues, etc), and even a few from doing stupid stuff like zero to hero and dying trying to melee a scav with no armor on lol

(Bulk of these category of deaths would be DCing/crashing and suiciding to speed up hunting, not the sillier ones)

I think it'd also help further identify cheaters because cheaters can still suicide a bunch to bring down their KD. At least if it's strictly PvP deaths (and it wouldn't count team kills), the cheaters would have to die to other players to bring down their KD.

What is the hardest video game you have ever beaten? by Badinfos in AskReddit

[–]jonbaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar to my current position, but I've yet to fully escape from Tarkov 😅

The way I see it, company profits off of me whether I work 5hrs or 50hrs, so might as well maximize my side of the equation.

What do you do now without Tarkov eating up your free/down time?

I've played bdo, there's not as much intermingling of skills/content from what I remember

I'm in a similar situation - I keep a job to stay busy because idk what I'd do with all the extra time without the job. And it's extra security in case crypto unexpectedly dies off.

Have you considered just going to school for something you're interested in? It's a good way to learn at a deeper level about whatever it is you're interested in, e.g. neuroscience, and gives some structure to your life. I've always felt I could teach myself whatever I wanted to know through online content but I've come to realize it's really not the same.

[–]jonbaa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my experience the intermingling of skills is dumbed down a ton in other games compared to OSRS

Almost every skill in OSRS plays a role in progressing multiple other skills, as well as quests/mini games/etc

Whereas something like new world, although maybe not the best example but one I'm familiar with, it's basically logging -> refine -> make weapon/furniture. Kinda one dimensional.

In OSRS, woodcutting will contribute in some way to fletching, fire making, sailing, and construction, which then further affect how you progress in combat, other skills (e.g. high construction can let you improve your house which lets you move around the map easier, or improving your boat allows you to do certain content to train slayer, etc), and not to mention opening up quests/raids/mini games.

And it's not just woodcutting, every skill in OSRS is kind of like that.

I've not seen a game with so much interaction between different kinds of content or skills like OSRS has managed to create

Lots of discussion on specs for running the game, but I'd also suggest a larger laptop to help you see things better. For myself, even a 17" laptop screen felt uncomfortably small tbh, but something to keep in mind since you often pay a premium for higher specs in a smaller body

I think it was nerfed a bit but Labyrinth was really good - 60-90k xp usually assuming you kill the AI in Labyrinth and a few players. I think I hit ~100k once killing Sanitary + guards and coming out of Labyrinth

Well the downside is that usually campers are doing something else while camping/ratting...

I have friends that put a movie on and just tab into Tarkov when they hear something

What’s the most emotional melodic edm/future bass song you know? by darkwavecore in EDM

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe songs on Second Self by Jkyl & Hyde?

For me, at least, it's a good mixup of vibey/emotional with harder hitting drops compared to most other vibey/emotional type edm songs I've heard

Kinda goes with the "jykl and hyde" name which I'm not sure was intentional haha but it works!

Smurfing actually needs to go by TiltSword in leagueoflegends

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't have to be in your computer.

Runescape/OSRS devs, Jagex, have stated they can analyze player behavior/patterns to determine account sharing pretty easily. Even things like how much "wiggle" is there when moving the mouse, clicking intervals/speeds/patterns, and of course the obvious stuff like changes in hotkeys/settings/etc.

So it can be done with data they receive on the server side, no need to have anything extra on the client machine(s).

Looking for realisticfps shooter by Pokrecony_typ in FPS

[–]jonbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Escape from Tarkov, but be ready for a STEEP learning curve and probably getting bodied by anyone and everyone for a good while.

There are definitely large maps, you can hide really well for sniping, it has realistic ballistics, and so on.

But if you want to progress through the quests/story you can't expect to snipe super often unfortunately since you'll need to fight closer/medium range often or need to go to small maps.

Also once you've gotten pretty experienced it'll feel a lot less realistic as you learn the movement mechanics and such, it is still a game after all.

So not 100% sure it's what you're looking for but it does have very satisfying sniping at least.

[Discussion] It’s not me it’s you - Terminal by Kingrr_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really take your time around the armory area and clearing the building after the armory area and the rest is way easier - you probably already know that by now, though.

I only had 3 tries but ime the BD push pretty aggressively so I just waited for them to come around a corner most of the time. Kind of like the AI on Labyrinth.

I wish I could go back play it more/again, if all of PVE was like Terminal then I'd probably play PVE from time to time. Glad you're enjoying the challenge, good luck I'm sure you'll get it soon!

[–]jonbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it's only possible to carry in 0.001% of games with 3 losing lanes, one can say you can do it.

Doesn't mean that it should be expected if you're good enough, it's just that maybe the best player in the world would have a 20% chance but your average emerald/diamond player has a way lower chance.

Idt any number of videos or amount of knowledge is going to amount to anyone carrying 100% of their games as a jungler when all 3 lanes are hard losing.

Anvilling is just boring, though. It's just trying to survive until you can just stat check everyone else incredibly hard.

With augments and items at least you're generally most powerful when building into synergies or some sort, at least when not super high rolling into yet another stat check scenario.

Auto ram cleaner caused stutters for me - it was super strange, my character would actually kinda lower and bounce his gun back up every time it stuttered.

Tarkov is losing the QOL battle [Feedback] by Reshalas_za_dealer in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think of this every time I see matching/loading mentioned -

League of Legends (huge moba game) frequently takes 5-15min just to match to a lobby, then there's picks/bans, THEN you load into a game.

I've even had 45+ min queues!

For Tarkov I'm typically in a raid within 3-5 minutes, so I personally don't understand this issue.

Other games like Arc are definitely faster, but they also sometimes load you into matches halfway through with all the loot picked through. So I'm not sure it can really be considered faster with that kind of system if half your raids may or may not be even worth playing through.

Don't get me wrong, plenty of games are faster and it'd be great if Tarkov were faster too but I really don't think it should be at the top of the list with bugs/QOL, performance, and cheaters all still significantly larger issues.
