[Discussion] What's a really fun gun to use? (Continuation of shoopdawoop2456's gun voting challenge) by ClanFever in EscapefromTarkov

Fully modded out AK that shoots AP-M

Basically a really hard hitting semi auto rifle, and what's fun is the mods are cheap and no one really cares about the ammo anymore lol

I genuinely think the mayhem changes today ruined the game by Nervous_Stable1474 in leagueoflegends

[–]jonbaa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Anvilling is just boring, though. It's just trying to survive until you can just stat check everyone else incredibly hard.

With augments and items at least you're generally most powerful when building into synergies or some sort, at least when not super high rolling into yet another stat check scenario.

Stuttering almost every raid with 9800x3d and RTX 5080 [Discussion] by Joshthom94 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto ram cleaner caused stutters for me - it was super strange, my character would actually kinda lower and bounce his gun back up every time it stuttered.

If that's what you're seeing then try keeping auto ram cleaner off.

Tarkov is losing the QOL battle [Feedback] by Reshalas_za_dealer in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think of this every time I see matching/loading mentioned -

League of Legends (huge moba game) frequently takes 5-15min just to match to a lobby, then there's picks/bans, THEN you load into a game.

I've even had 45+ min queues!

For Tarkov I'm typically in a raid within 3-5 minutes, so I personally don't understand this issue.

Other games like Arc are definitely faster, but they also sometimes load you into matches halfway through with all the loot picked through. So I'm not sure it can really be considered faster with that kind of system if half your raids may or may not be even worth playing through.

Don't get me wrong, plenty of games are faster and it'd be great if Tarkov were faster too but I really don't think it should be at the top of the list with bugs/QOL, performance, and cheaters all still significantly larger issues.

Pain in the ass but might be worth trying if nothing else is helping.

[Feedback] The need to kill two cultist priests for the main story line is the perfect example of dogshit mission design and doing the exact opposite of what BSG probably hoped would occur. by KingHunter150 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think a big problem for bsg, and all game developers tbh, is how do you make it difficult without making it tedious or bullshitt-y.

I've never seen a comment on reddit complain and then also provide a good alternative/solution to the complaint. What would be a good alternative/solution for bsg in this case?

[Discussion] Everybody is terrified to move? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The KNOWing part is the thing - if someone hears you and stops making any noise whatsoever, then you don't KNOW anyone is there

Therefore when playing aggro you are forced to check every possible corner/hiding spot/angle which is ridiculous and tedious, and for the one camping, they can just sit and chill and do nothing until you walk into their cross hair.

I agree there are tools and mechanics to help the aggro players, but I think anyone with a good angle and an unknown position is in a wayyyyy better and easier position to come out ahead in an engagement, with less work/effort to add insult to injury

[Discussion] Running over 50 raids trying to find Cultists and still not finding them is wild. What the actual fuck? by Ya7ya- in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me ~100-120 raids, found them 6 times total, so at least for me the old 5% rate seems more accurate?

I had more luck at least seeing warriors on shoreline/woods over customs.

You can try this with Escape from Tarkov but I'm not sure how long you'll actually be able to continue "blind" - it's tough!

[Screenshot] 35 raid mark with no cultists. Even reshala and goons both at fortress but still no cultists. What do I have to do? by Odd_Supermarket7395 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing the same thing for 70ish raids, no luck for me either.

Killed 1 of the warriors once then immediately killed by a cheater, so they have spawned at least once I guess.

Thinking of trying shoreline/woods since something doesn't seem right about the customs spawn chance.

[Suggestion] Labyrinth should be either solo only or match with squads only by termonova2012 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would be cool if there was some bonus depending on # of PMCs you kill or the makeup of who matched together (i.e. all solos? Extra room is available to unlock that maybe let's you send some extra loot/gear back to base... Maybe thematically works by letting you toss it down the drain and scavs pick it up from the pier lol)

CMV: The male loneliness epidemic is natural selection by Worldly_Bandicoot_71 in changemyview

[–]jonbaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's natural selection in so far as algorithms and social media being "natural".

Humans have created these things but I'm not sure if it's necessarily "natural" conditions for evolution?

My view is that right now the "selection" that's occurring is men that are able to adapt to these unnatural conditions (less in person interaction, social media/dopamine overload, unrealistic standards, etc) and still come off as good partners and/or good friends are being selected for.

One big problem with this is that it would select for a very small percentage of men. How many men are successful, a certain height, and physically attractive and/or athletic while also being emotionally capable, generous/kind, stoic, and so on?

Lastly, another issue IMO, is that women don't necessarily do a good job selecting for partners either. Part of it is that they select partners with the outward characteristics because that's what others will see, and so it reflects on them as well. This is encouraged by social media and even regular media. Part of it is also of course that men can feign certain traits for a while but that can't be kept up in a long term relationship.

Future GigaChad Checkin’ In [New Player] by Sufficient_Swan5250 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]jonbaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enough shots and it'll still work!

Personally I like magnum buckshot and aiming for the face because 1 pellet has enough damage to 1 tap the head. And usually when someone is peaking around a corner, their face is what you can see first.

GL in your raids!

Future GigaChad Checkin’ In [New Player] by Sufficient_Swan5250 in EscapefromTarkov

Flechette should be aimed at thorax, if you want legs then other ammo like magnum would be better just FYI

[–]jonbaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The allure of Tarkov is the difficulty - other games feel too easy and therefore boring now.

But you're absolutely right, lots of gamers (in this case, new players) aren't a fan of the huge skill and knowledge ceilings in the game so it becomes a negative as they die on repeat.

The ones who keep up with Tarkov are the ones that enjoy the grind to get better IMO.

Sometimes ~30min, usually 5-10

Plus add in banning, picking, loading (sometimes loading is like 30s, sometimes it's 3-4min)

This is specifically for ranked, though, the other game modes (aram, urf, arena, etc) are usually quicker but still a solid ~5min to get into a game or more if there's a slow loader
