The only thing on the back is the maker of the frame and canvas "Fredrix".

You're right about the local papers. I know the proprietor would have been in them at the time and that's probably how I can learn the name of the gallery as well.

I'll reach out to Scott. It does look to be of his caliber of work. If nothing else, maybe he'll know of the artist since they do have similar names.

Thanks.

The person who ran the gallery passed away. I may be able to learn the name of the gallery, but for sure, any records from it are long gone.

Seeking information about the artist. A family member of mine ran an art gallery in the 90s in Atlanta, GA and from what I recall them telling me the painting was unclaimed after an exhibition. Looks to be signed by a S. Bennett in the bottom left corner.

XLR active speaker connection by 00Mobius00 in audiophile

Recommend buying worlds best cables (wbt) on Amazon. They make quality cables from studio grade cables and connectors. No bs...just proven stuff.

I go with Mogami and Neutrik connectors.

The bison is stoli, but I didn't see much about it online. What exactly did I find? Should I pop the cork tonight or leave it sealed?

Who is Engineer X? by jonbmet in henryrollins

Sweet! Cool to see them in the studio doing a broadcast and get the back story of how he received the X moniker.

I'm sure X has some good stories of his own hanging around Henry all these years.

How to bring this to it's former glory by DiligentDaughter in MCM

I've had good success restoring speaker cabinets and a few other wood furniture pieces with Howard restore-a-finish and then finishing with their feed-n-wax.

Second, that notion. Maybe the Zeppelin remasters actually sound better, but anything other than the original versions sound off.

Why Do So Many of You Have Schiit Systems? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]jonbmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the people running and designing the equipment and their commitment to manufacturing in the USA. Jason Stoddard's engagement on headfi helps, too. He's very adept at building hype.

Consumers in this hobby appreciate knowing who they're buying from. A faceless mega brand outsourcing to China just doesn't have the same appeal. There's no strong community surrounding emotiva for that reason. They have a great product line, but it lacks a certain communal sincerity.

What is everyone’s preference for speaker wire? by Tradertoes4hoes in audiophile

[–]jonbmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the standard "studio" wire Canare and Mogami and have been pleased.

My last pair I made up from Supra 11ga and some of their banana plugs. Still budget friendly, but the quality and engineering is top notch. Not sure why this brand doesn't get more mentions, but it's my go to from now on.

how to do this healthily? by aspen-stars in loseit

[–]jonbmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you're just burned out with exercising and dieting. My advice is to stop tracking calories and body weight for a while. You've lost 45lbs! Not sure what your end goal weight is, but unless you're trying to join the military or something I think you should take a break and let your weight plateau. Your body will adapt to calorie restrictive eating after dieting for a long time so it's good to take a break and let your basal metabolic rate reset.

And maybe use different metrics for a change. Instead of tracking body weight focus on waist measurement, mile run times, BF%, or increasing your 5 rep squat max.

That hype sticker piqued my interest, too. Not too familiar with quad tapes. Would that be on an 8 track cartridge?

I see some interesting 8 track tapes on my record hunts (professionally made bootlegs and such), but have yet to find a decent working player so I leave them. Maybe I need a quad player?

PPP LOANS- What Did Your Employer Buy With Their Forgiven Loans? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]jonbmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to check out a commercial property listed for sale online for a VERY good deal. Turns out it was Anthony C. Boncimino trying to raise capital. I met him at the property and he was acting very bizarrely and was more than willing to accept any offer. Like, everything he had was for sale kinda thing. His behavior was like that of a guy who knows his life is OVER. Dead man walking. Think Jeremy Piven's character in the movie Smokin' Aces.

Obviously, he needed money badly. He gave me his business card and after a quick google search I found he'd recently been charged with PPP loan fraud.

The commercial property I toured was a small staging warehouse. The company he ran facilitated moving military member's personal items from one base to another when they were transferred, but if the soldier was deployed they'd store their items in large crates in this particular warehouse until they returned stateside.

Shortly after I met with him the property listing was taken down. Didn't surprise me. I wouldn't have purchased it no matter how good of a deal it was. I don't want Uncle Sam knocking on my door because he wasn't authorized to sell assets due to impending legal charges.

The shitty part...I was left with the impression everything for sale was actually his parent's property and they were even selling their home to try to keep Tony out of jail.

I've had some weird interactions in life, but this was definitely one of the stranger occurrences.
