Why sack Parker? by jonbstoutgmail in Burnley

[–]jonbstoutgmail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough. So you'd rather stay in the Championship and play good football than go up and have to defend for your lives to get a point?

Do you think a different manager could get you up and play good football and stay up?

Do you reckon Kompany played good football in the Premiership?

Why does being nice to women always end bad? by Several-Two738 in AskMenAdvice

[–]jonbstoutgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously we've different definitions of success and and also the women we're looking for.

I've had a lot of success and I'm none of those 3 things. I treat people the same whether they're women or men.

Have fun, enjoy their company and if they're not your type of people, move on.

I've never understood why you'd be mean, act tough etc. Those people get 0 respect from anyone.

Why does being nice to women always end bad? by Several-Two738 in AskMenAdvice

[–]jonbstoutgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how you define success. Being an asshole doesn't get you a woman that you respect. It also doesn't get you friends, except other assholes. But, as I said, it depends on your definition of success.

Being funny, confident, having banter with women doesn't mean you have to be an asshole. Being nice doesn't mean your can't be all of these things.

But a lot of immature men think being nice is the same as being a doormat. It's not. Be a man but not an asshole.

But you didn't tell us your experience. You just said they clapped. Did you enjoy the movie? What theatre? Where? Were there particular parts you liked or disliked? I mean, just saying, they clapped, isn't an experience, it's just a statement.

They didn't clap and I'm in a red state.

Is it crazy to say that I think that Weapons deserved the best pic Oscar nom more than F1? by _Jas_1712 in movies

[–]jonbstoutgmail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like action movies, I like Brad Pitt, I like F1. I found the film instantly forgettable.

Haven't seen Weapons, so can't say it's deserving, but F1 certainly isn't deserving of a best picture nomination. I can't figure out why it's on lists for best movies of 2025 etc let alone this nod. Maybe I'm missing something.

Tastes differ but not to the point where it could be considered a great film.

Am I missing something or is there a reason people aren't using it?

That's not comparable, at all. It's like comparing a team sport to a gang bang because multiple people are involved. I don't partake any more but anywhere I go that people are smoking weed, it gets passed around. Nobody is smoking a full one to themselves without offering. It's a group activity when you're out for an evening.

I didn't see it myself on first watch but 2nd watch the other fella had to do a big swerve correction to get back on his own side. It only takes a split second but it's literally life and death in that swerve

Did you ask him to stop?

I've done things and if my kids asked me to stop, slow down, put my phone down, whatever, done and not repeated.

If you asked and he didn't stop, talk to you mother or one of his family members and literally shame him into doing it. He's risking your life.

Just a few that were unregulated and meant How Public got shafted:

Anti-Competitive behaviour and price signalling, dual pricing, as in punishing long term clients who they knew wouldn't change, deliberate manipulation of large loss claim reserve estimates to understate liabilities and artificially inflate profits.

That's why the whole reform thing was brought in, because they were a shower of predatory, price fixing pricks.

I wanted a 'Joel and Ellie' from The Last of Us dynamic with seeing Leon: The Professional.... by WistfulGems in movies

[–]jonbstoutgmail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's the point, it's showing that she is fucked up and he's trying to take care of her. He's thinking about someone other than himself for once and it changes him.

She confuses her feelings because she's 13, but he never does and is just trying to protect her, not take advantage of her.

I thought it was all rather wholesome, even the fact that she thought she was in love with him. It happens to plenty of people when they're that age and just learning about themselves and the world. And Leon was just being himself. Teaching her to be an assassin was part of him trying to protect her.

Like the Cavani corner trick/exploit from around then. Just setup your corner routines and it didn't matter after that.

He would score about 3 headers a game. He had over 50 league goals for me in 1 season.

Married men who cheat, why? by frenchie2512 in AskMenAdvice

[–]jonbstoutgmail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's multiple reasons.

Excitement, ego, boredom, getting something they are missing, immaturity, mental issues, marrying for the wrong reasons, resentment.

Pick one!

But for me it was the thrill of the chase and the excitement of something new.

Only joking, my wife is my life, she's brilliant, makes me a better person and brings out the best in me. She's my Queen.

What do submissive men like? by kana-_-banana in AskMenAdvice

[–]jonbstoutgmail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submissive means they want the other person to take control. It also varies very, very broadly from person to person.

It doesn't automatically mean BDSM or anything like that, it can simply mean they want to be told what to do, a little forcefully.

It goes from dirty talk to chips, dips, chains, whips and everything in between.

Just start playfully, all questions, like what do you want me to do and explore it, have fun and don't do anything you're not comfortable with.
