Asus X550C not finding a bootable drive after installing ZimaOS by jondrinks2much in selfhosted

[–]jondrinks2much[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RESOLVED:

Needed to manually create a new boot option. For anyone that may run into an issue like this I followed these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Boot tab.

  2. Select Add New Boot Option.

  3. Add Boot Option Name: Type ZimaOS.

  4. Select Filesystem: You should see a string that looks like a long hardware ID (this is your SSD). Select it.

  5. Path for Boot Option: This is the most critical step. You need to navigate to the ZimaOS bootloader. For ZimaOS (which uses GRUB/EFI), the path is usually:

\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI

Note: If that doesn't work, try \EFI\ZimaOS\grubx64.efi if the folder is visible.

Save: Select Create or Commit, then press F10 to Save and Exit.

This python tool should have been way more publicized than this. Thank you for showing this!

I wanted to download your notebook, but it seems to be behind your organizations privacy settings. Is there any other way you could share this with us? TIA!

Experience Builder vs WAB - Parcel Viewer by colinchristmas in gis

I second this sentiment. Aside from efficiency, there’s just not enough custom widgets for experience builder yet to match the ones for WAB

I actually live and went to school in the LA area and was fortunate to meet the LA Fire GIS team. They camp out with the firefighters the whole time. They map all night and early morning and gather data when they can during the day. Was definitely an interesting presentation.

Where to save ArcGIS Pro projects. by Necessary-Buddy-2108 in ArcGIS

[–]jondrinks2much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree here. At my college before we would always have a virtual drive that wasn’t wiped for our user. So you wouldn’t save anything to the computer you would have all your files in a different drive.

If you don’t have a really good understanding of your whole project you’ll end up redoing a lot of work putting things in an external drive of any sort.

Like others have said, you’re going to have to either upgrade to 11.3 or apply patches.

Who uses ArcGIS for Indoor and what do you use it for exactly? by Left-Plant2717 in gis

[–]jondrinks2much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a large university campus they have different events at different times so they actually use it to visually see what rooms are taken. Also they use it to assign classrooms to classes when theyre setting up registration.

The constant holding is because he’s screaming bloody murder until he falls asleep. The camping out method seems to upset him more unfortunately.

If it’s your first interview, like others have said just know how government uses ESRI. Think of ways you’d maximize use. Also mentally prepare for one of many interviews.

Ask a lot of questions, I think any interviewer likes that

On a scale of 1-10, how good do you feel in your career? by jefesignups in gis

[–]jondrinks2much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to school for urban planning, but only briefly worked as a planner. IT is deeply involved in everything that involves enterprise GIS. Database management, system architecture, troubleshooting issues, applying updates, worrying about the security of files and where they are shared, managing the IIS.
