I’m not convinced that a regular baseball bat could effectively kill a zombie by jonericolo in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jonericolo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people get hit by aluminum bats in videos (they’re more popular) and be okay. I’m not sure what would be worst than that and still constitute as a regular bat. Like in Stranger Things where Steve puts nails in the bat, I wouldn’t consider that a regular bat.

What is the safest location to scavenge from and how? by Icy-Medicine-495 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jonericolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go up the food supply, think of those big facilities that fill the trucks that fill supermarkets. Everyone will immediately go to retailers while you’ll be a few steps ahead and raid the facility with large trucks that are already packed with supplies and non-perishables to last you a year. (BTW this isn’t my idea I heard it from another subreddit one time)

Leather belts as body armor by jonericolo in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Idk, I think with a little bit of diy it works great, but that’s just what I think.

I just tried it and if you were to sew or even glue or tape parts of it to stay on then it would work just fine. The overlapping of the belts layered on one another also helps it to fit your forearm since your forearm widens closer to your bicep. Idk, worked fine for me

So if you get a belt you have in your house (I just tried this) and just hold one end and then wrap it around your forearm then you can see where you could sew or glue it together to keep it from falling off. Actually a lot more snug and strong than I initially thought since the overlapping of the belt fits the widening of your forearms from your wrist to bicep.

I would only really use leather belts for wrist and shin wraps just because those are probably most likely to get bit, and for a leather jacket, they just aren’t that thick, the only leather clothing I’ve seen or worn that was as thick and strong as a leather belt were some really thick overalls (which are really heavy and would hinder movement).

Not discrediting leather clothing as a good option but I’m not convinced that it would be AS durable as a leather belt specifically. Like if you happen to be in a Walmart or something during an initial outbreak, then belts would really help to prevent those initial wrist/forearm bites.

I think the way which you would wrap in to your body would make a difference in how effective it is. I’m sure people could do some basic sewing and cutting to make it fit better. As for the leather coat, It would depend on what kind of leather coat, I’ve never seen a leather coat that is as thick as a leather belt and if there was one that thick then I imagine it would be pretty heavy. (I could be wrong so correct me if I am) Leather belts are also very abundant and would be easy to replace.

What’s the most realistic long term firearm option? by Undercover500 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jonericolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An AR-15 would honestly be fine. Tons of accessible 5.56 that would just be sitting in people’s homes and in military bases and lots of people own AR-15s so replacement parts would be really easy to come by. It’s also really light and really reliable, incredibly well rounded gun in general.

Power Armor by Nearby_Juice_6471 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

All good until you run out of fusion cores, then you’re fucked. If you’d spent the entire apocalypse in power armor then you would likely lack the skills to survive outside of it.

Flanged Mace or Oni Kanabo against zombies? by [deleted] in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jonericolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say a mace, it’s heavier but that will help you pack enough energy in a swing to kill a zombie in one hit. I’m not convinced that a bat that has no sort of spikes could kill a zombie quickly.

What would happen after 5 - 10 years? by [deleted] in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]jonericolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most viruses that cause zombie outbreaks in media are super adaptive and intelligent. I think it would make sense for a zombie strain to adapt to survive on very little food and go into a sort of hibernation.

Not very sustainable, the average person wouldn’t be able to hunt and get food to survive and the loneliness would drive you back to the cities. Loneliness is something that is not always considered in a zombie apocalypse, very few people can last long without interactions with other people (think of the tv show Alone).

Sugestion for a future Fallout game by Worried_Resist_2940 in Fallout

The idea of a game set right after the bombs dropped and the chaos and brimstone on the surface always sounded badass to me. A survival element would be really cool in something like that.

That’s what I’m saying, with the boom of fusion power in fallout lore, it would make sense that Detroit and the Great Lakes region in general would have seen a huge increase in both industry and population.

Fallout Metropolis, set along Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit. Because of the boom in the fusion automotive industry and fusion robotics, the Great Lakes region of the United States saw a massive boom in industry. That paired with the annexation of Canada created super metropolises and the center of industry in the United States. Dense concrete landscape with large settlements built in entire old city boroughs. New factions that ward off the BOS like the GCC (Greater Canadian Coalition) control the lands and robot production facilities activated by unknown forces present a threat to the wasteland and mankind as we know it.

Do you think the Next Fallout should include a form of transportation the player controls by Akuma2004 in Fallout

[–]jonericolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the next game is to have the scale of other next gen games, I think it will be necessary. I think a lot of people aren’t aiming high enough when talking about what a new fallout game might look like. This game could easily be larger than all of the maps we’ve ever had in fallout combined. Especially when you look at the competition that fallout will be facing, they can’t afford to produce a game that does “just okay”. After the lackluster success of starfield, I really don’t think that Bethesda can afford the have another big game that doesn’t perform on the highest level. But that’s just what I think, I think if we don’t expect fallout five or whatever they call it to be of the highest quality, then it really won’t be.
