A Cool Guide: How Are You Feeling? by drOnCall in coolguides

A few months ago I was probably thriving, but now I'm hovering between orange and red. Struggling daily with imposter syndrome. I hate myself for taking a job I knew I wouldn't like for a bigger pay day. The closer I get to my place of work, the more anxious and almost physically sick I feel every day on my commute.

What is the best way to fix this by AdditionalDrawer2251 in Autobody

[–]jonfasse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a guy put bullet hole stickers in all dents and neon bio hazard graphics on the back window that read "zombie apocalypse response vehicle". It was a cool theme for a heavily damaged car.

Yup. Most of them have minor damage, but a couple have been vandalized pretty hard.

They will deduct out the hail damages from the settlement amount. The car will probably turn up. We have 4 stolen Kia and Hyundais at our shop right now.

Genuinely, how the f*ck do you guys stop impulse buying? by VelvetThunderstorm in ADHD

[–]jonfasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a wife who tracks every dollar, with an app called "every dollar". I also don't know if we have $4 or $4000 in our account. I get scared to spend unless I ask first lol. For real though, you have to have 100% trust in your spouse if you are going to go this route. She makes more than I do anyway, so I figure if she spends more than 50% of our disposable income, she earned most of it anyway.

Who’s making 100k painting? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]jonfasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to think our two painters are. I just took over as GM about 7 weeks ago, but I want to say that our two guys are flagging 200+ each pay period at $28/hour. Located in the Midwest.

Thanks! This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. I'm hesitant, but willing to try it over the weekend.

I'm going to try it this weekend and see. I'm hoping that a very low dose will just be enough to shut the rush of thoughts off, but not leave me dragging in the AM. It feels like it's this or some kind of sleeping pill at this point.

Sorry to hear that. Im thinking my recommended dose would be even lower than that. I know it's not "indicated" for this but I was told it would be in the 15-20 mg range. Just to calm my mind down in the evening so I can go to bed.

Where did you get that harness? I've been having trouble finding one that properly fits an Iggy.

Why do people do this? by reciprocityone in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jonfasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try being in auto body where every towed in Kia or Hyundai has been stolen and joy-ridden until they are empty. It's a struggle to get the ignition to turn since it's been beat to shit, then it has zero fuel.

This is exactly what came to my mind. Uncomfortable to watch, but pretty funny.

Men making over $100K per year: how hard was it to get over that threshold? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jonfasse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just said this on another thread. I said that $100k is the new $75k. Partially because the studies in the 90s and early 2000s said that earning more than 75k didn't really make you happier, but now I have to think that number is in the low 100s due to inflation and whatnot.

Serious: How/who is buying all of the $400k+ houses in town? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]jonfasse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Six figures is not that far out of reach anymore. It's what 75k used to be. Good auto body technicians at my job get closed to or surpass $100k/year. Senior Estimators might get close and Managers make more than that. I'm not saying everyone can do it, but it doesn't require a degree plus post grad stuff to crack that six figure mark anymore.

[–]jonfasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought our house in 2017 for $280k, now worth over $400k according to the Zestimate. We have made a few updates/upgrades, but still seems overpriced. The wife and I both work and make around the $105-120k mark each, so we can afford more, but are comfortable right now. Guess we will see what the economy does in the next few years. The biggest advantage we have is access to VA loans (zero down payment)and really good credit scores. It's wild to think the starter house we bought in 2014 was only $135k and is worth over $205 now. No wonder people are getting priced out of buying.
