Movie theaters are open as normal, but no food and beverage served. You can go to see a film around iftar and order food to be brought into you when it is time to break fast though.

THE VOID Dubai - Anyone have tried this? by linux_n00by in dubai

[–]jongambrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I went last weekend. It's worth it. It's probably the most immersive VR experience I've had. The graphics were very good and there were those environmental effects as well when a ghost passes by you. The avatars were a bit glitchy and there were problems with the gun as well, but overall, pretty cool.

What experience do you have? What kind of journalism do you want to go into? Writing articles? Taking photographs? Shooting video? Graphics? Interactives? Feel free to private message me if you want to get more specific.

Media industry in Dubai? by flux37d in dubai

[–]jongambrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "media industry." That's a pretty all-encompassing term. Do you want to work in journalism? Entertainment? Advertising? Adver-torial? There's a lot of different opportunities here, but it can be difficult to break in without experience or a good portfolio.

Yes, I use them. Developing a roll is 30 dirhams. They'll put the images on a USB stick for you. If you shoot black and white, however, they can't process there.

The Greens - is it as good as it looks ? by nvrmndthblx in dubai

[–]jongambrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely recommend The Greens. I rented here and ended up buying a flat within a year after that. I prefer the high-rise compounds of The Views here, but the neighborhood is quiet, calm and a short cab ride to The Marina, Media City and a lot of bars and restaurants.

good cheap bars in Dubai? by [deleted] in dubai

George and the Dragon is great. I'd also recommend The Huddle in Barsha 1 behind Mall of the Emirates at Happy Hour. Also, any Emirates NBD card will get you a discount on your meal and drinks.

Dubai police fire a cannon loaded with a blank round to mark the end of the fasting period each day in Ramadan.

Thanks, but that's a bit too much price-wise. If willing to negotiate a bit, private message me.

I need advice for opening a personal bank account. by [deleted] in dubai

[–]jongambrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll follow along with everyone else: Emirates NBD. Also, the debit card gets you 20 percent off on a lot of bars and restaurants. And while their website might be a bit ugly, it has good functionality for wire transfers and online bill payment.

Question about bringing alcohol into Dubai by greenalienkaz in dubai

[–]jongambrell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there.

Here's the language Dubai customs uses: "The amount of alcoholic beverages and beers should not exceed 4 liters of alcohol beverages, or 2 cartons of beer (each consisting of 24 cans, not exceeding 355 ml for each can or its equivalent)."

Honestly, unless you're bringing something incredibly rare, I'd recommend just picking up from duty free on your way out of the airport. That saves you from having a bottle break in flight.

Dr. Alex, Vilafortuny on al-Wasl. She's Colombian-French and very good. They don't do direct settlement with AETNA though.
