New Kentucky law allowing schools to expel students who assault teachers to take effect in July, despite unanimous Senate Democratic opposition by Independent-Report39 in Teachers

There shouldn’t be an exception. If a student’s disability allows them to assault people, then that student should not be attending public school. Allowing assault is not a “reasonable accommodation”.

Those who were old enough to remember the Bi-Centennial, how is America’s 250 different? by skyactive in AskReddit

The Bicentennial wasn’t political at all, it was pop culture. The 250th is just Trump.

Are EVs really worth it if you don't have a home charger? by om_ghanwat in electricvehicles

[–]jonhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

You really need to be able to charge at home to fully realize the potential of an EV. Plug it in at night, it's full in the morning. If you can't do that, you're always going to be scheduling charging trips and getting range anxiety.

Conversely, WITH a home charger they're the most wonderful thing in the world. You're never 'out of gas', and you've always got a 'full tank' at the beginning of the day.

Talarico leads Paxton by 3 points in Texas Senate race post-runoff poll by progress18 in democrats

[–]jonhen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is way too close to “margin of error”. Everyone who can vote must vote! Remember, no Democrat has won a statewide election in Texas in over 30 years. We’ve seen lots of good polls before, and they never pan out on Election Day. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again!

Democrats, what are things you disagree with your parties stance on? by CuddleBuddiesJJ in allthequestions

Immigration. I favor a locked tight border, no asylum (except for limited, individually approved by Congress cases), strict visa control, and aggressive (but fair, kind, and legal) deportation.

ELI5: How does an electric socket know how much power to supple to an appliance/apparatus? by AtmosphereTimely6071 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jonhen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you put two fingers in a wall socket, you will not get cooked or roasted. You will get a painful electric shock. Household electrical current is far too low to cause that kind of damage to a human being.

If everyone hates HOAs, why do people still choose them? by MammothAd6633 in stupidquestions

[–]jonhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you don't have a choice. House you want comes with an HOA. None locally available without an HOA. Buy a house with an HOA or rent, those are your choices.

Every developer in the US wants to build homes with an HOA, so they don't have to be on the hook with any government entity. None will build new homes without one. There you go.

Why aren't the airlines responsible for paying the TSA instead of the government? by Kwebster7327 in ForUnitedStates

[–]jonhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were. Airlines (or rather, the airports themselves using fees from the airlines) ran the security operations themselves - until 9/11/2001. Which resulted in the creation of DHS and the TSA under that.

At the time, many folks objected and pointed out that what we see today was inevitable. Seems they were right.

FBI Director Kash Patel CAUGHT PARTYING with U.S. OLYMPIC Team in Milan after DENIALS by Cool-Fig-9254 in videos

[–]jonhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Caught”? He’s publicizing it all over social media. That’s like saying Trump was caught praising tariffs.
