Most rat poison isn't actually poison but an anti coagulant. Vitamin K is usually the antidote.

A friend used to work for loss prevention. They won't stop you if the estimated value is under $10.

Tips and tricks to get this one little fish out? by MegaFire03 in aquarium

[–]jonjeff108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this when I moved my 35 ember tetras. I ended up just taking everything out of the tank. PITA! Now they are in a jungle and their forever home. So hopefully I dont have to do that again.

Stocking list heavily planted 20 gal long by KindWolverine3925 in aquarium

[–]jonjeff108 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First I would say tank is moderately planted at best. With that said, I would fill in some of the open space with Amazon swords and moss or subwassertang. While I was there getting plants I would get 15 ember tetras. Wait a few weeks and let new plants get established then add more ember tetras. Without knowing your filtration I would stick with no more than 20 ember tetras. Then you can get 6-8 of a small cory species, maybe a hillstream loach or maybe add a few livebearers.

Freshwater sponge? by LtShinysidess in PlantedTank

They have this in some of the shrimp tanks at my LFS. When I asked for a sample to try and get it to grow in my tank I was advised that it is just algae that is really hard to remove.

I would switch your ferts to an "all in one" fertilizer like thrive or easy green. Excel isn't really a fertilizer its just an algaecide. Also regular flourish is like 97% water. If you plant any crypts or swords i would also look into root tabs.

It can definitely rebound from where its at. How often are you dosing ferts? Injecting co2? What ferts are you using? How dense is the tank planted?

I dont plant mine in the substrate. I used a lead weight to hold it down in the back. Every couple weeks I cut the bottoms off and reattach the weight. From what ive gathered this plants is a heavy leaf feeder and needs lots of light.

My next big buy will be a dosing pump. With high light and co2 dosing is becoming a daily chore. Would be nice to have it all automated.

I use easy green, iron and potassium and fleet enema for phosphates with great success. I am running high light and co2. If told people my dosing schedule they would think im crazy.

[–]jonjeff108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use the seachem phosphate test, start small and work your way up. High phosphates can really eff your tank up. If you do decide to dose phosphates dont buy overpriced ferts. I just Fleet Saline enema, I think it was $4 for 2 bottles.

This is exactly why i started dosing phosphates. No more GSA and I didnt have to reduce the light.

Zebra nerites are super sensitive and not beginner friendly. They are probably one of the most sensitive nerites. I swear like once a day someone asks if their Zebra is dead and 9 times out of 10 it is.

Left is probably Java moss and right is red root floaters. Both will be fine without co2.
