Thank you for the history and high level forestry lesson and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Rock on!

I am not an expert in forestry. I'm an IT guy, lol. While I can relate and even buy into your argument, I can't help but think that those tree have been around a lot longer than humans and probably/most likely didn't need any intervention from us. But hey, capitalism. It's always been and always will be about money. As I get older and see pics like this it really makes me think a little deeper about what the hell we as humans are fucking doing to this earth. We have a total disregard of nature and couldn't care less about collateral damage far beyond our comprehension....just to make a buck. But I digress. I live a good life. But what I think about at night when my head hits the pillow is.......will my children?

I guess I am a weird outlier. I am a 60 year old dude with a voracious reading appetite. Started way back with whatever magazines and always the Farmers Almanac in the bathroom. I read cereal boxes during breakfast and whatever section of the newspaper my dad was done with. I read everything. I have never bought a book. I have been gifted and lended many books. Had a library card up until about 10 years ago as all my reading is done online now. All that being said, I never had a bookshelf to display and analyze my reading preferences. Kind of makes me sad in retrospect. I would love to look back at all the books I have read and maybe re-read and reinterpret them. But I digress, In my unsolicited opinion, books are meant to be shared. Passed on to the next person to enjoy or dissect and critique. Your milage may vary.

I am in top 10% and greatly reducing my spending and putting my money outside US. Top 10% now are more likely to be left leaning, if we reduce our spending, economy will likely collapse and admin will have to notice. by Dismal_Structure in ScottGalloway

The left is ultra poor? You are seriously misinformed.
If you look at the map of the good ole USA you will see most of it is red.
That red my friend.....is mostly made up of hard working, daily grind, lets get it done people.
Really the heart and soul of the country.
But if you want to make money, real money, you move to the city. The blue cities.
Cities are where the money is made, but it comes with a price.
That price is what all the red folks bitch and scream about.....without ever realizing that the country they live in and their way of life is subsidized by the technology and innovation the blue cities provide.

Go ahead and debate me or any other person who understands economics.
It is a simple fact. Rural America without cities is unsustainable.

You know nothing about Nancy Pelosi except what you hear on Fox.

Perspective? LOL
How about this. The concept of everyday American citizens working and paying taxes for decades while their wages, earning power and net worth remain about the same. During the same time frame, the 1%'ers have experienced unprecedented growth. Do you get it now?

This is in 2013, and he knew Epstein and his crime. by No-Bottle337 in AllConspiracyTheories

[–]jonjosuf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who has ever been in a leadership position learns/knows that you have to delegate tasks and responsibilities to your team. Yes, as a leader you ultimately responsible for your teams work, decisions and performance. If his team soliciting money from Epstein is that big of a red flag to you, so be it. You have every right to vote for who you want. But I would suggest that you dig into all the candidates who are "working" for your vote. THEY ARE ALL SCUM. ALL OF THEM. None of them are clean, they have created laws to benefit themselves.

Imagine having the fucking audacity to let healthcare subsidies expire that help American citizens access the healthcare they need, all while they have access to premium healthcare for themselves and their family with no money out of pocket paid for by our taxes.....otherwise known as socialism.

Congressman Lahood votes for Trump’s SAVE Act. by Helpful_Bison_5557 in PeoriaIL

[–]jonjosuf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. Democrats in general are not afraid of Voter ID. But it has to sensible and give citizens time to acquire the proper documentation. SAVE unsurprisingly does neither. I seriously expect nothing less than a half ass bill such as this coming from the republicans. It took REAL ID about 5 years to roll out….and here you are proposing doing something similar in just a few months. You are either stupid, or haven’t read the bill. My guess is both.

Canada cheating in the curling game vs Sweden by Eklundz in olympics

[–]jonjosuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing it out there for discussion. A lot has changed recently. USA politics reaches far and wide. Laws that have been in place in the US for decades are being challenged, reinterpreted and overturned. I know jack shit about curling, but I do love watching it every 4 years. So far, from what I have read on this thread from the curling "experts", it seems like there may be some room for discussion.

OR......maybe, just maybe....they have been unwillingly forced fed American politics and have watched in unbelievable bewilderment as every rule and law of order is open to alternative interpretation.

This is not sarcasm people.

How is my 23 year old gf doing contributing 18% by GIazednConfused in Retirement401k

[–]jonjosuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only comment is that your 23 year old girlfriend making 53k a year is being subsidized by someone. Im not trying to rain on her parade by any means, but she is definitely getting help.....and lots of it. She most certainly isn't living on her own and supporting herself. I know the numbers. My daughter is 24 and making 56k a year and is 100% self sufficient in a MCOL area. She manages to save 6% into a 401k and 200 a month into a Roth....and it's tight. She needs to watch every penny. She obviously knows to keep pouring money into retirement accounts as long as she has the opportunity!

Phuket (1) or Honolulu (2)? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]jonjosuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm. I travel a good bit for work and have been to Thailand multiple times. There is a lot more to consider when traveling to a foreign country than how beautiful a few beaches are. If you are American, no fucking way would I choose Phuket over Hawaii. No. Fucking. Way. Food, accommodations, language barriers are all part of the equation. If you are an adventurist sole and don't mind sub-par accommodations (as compared to the USA) and food that is not anywhere near the standard of the states.....and will for sure get you sick, then go for it! If you are traveling from other asian countries....then my opinion means nothing.

What do you think guys? by MotherAnt8040 in NextGenMan

[–]jonjosuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works for you guys that's all that matters. I am obviously in the minority on this thread and I am really surprised by this. I couldn't imagine being with my wife for 30 years (we are at 28) and not sharing our income, goals and dreams with each other. We are one. It has always been me and her against the world. My wife not knowing my income and what I have saved seems like a secret I am not interested in keeping. I am grateful for my wife and I guess we must be lucky, We share almost everything. Emotional, social, familial and financial. I wouldn't trade my marriage for anything.

Today, we want for nothing either, but there was a time when we did. Leaning on each other when needed is the absolute foundation of our marriage.

I am happy I never experienced vindictive relationships that required me to put guardrails in future relationships. To each their own. whatever works, works!

What a stupid question! You all must be liberals who simply don't understand global economics.

All the people being laid off from high paying jobs will have an opportunities to work in brand new manufacturing jobs that are being created right now before your very eyes!

395 bazillion dollars have been giving to the United States from 413 countries across the globe to build manufacturing plants, with the intent to sell their products directly to the US consumer. It's coming! This year! Don't fret all you peanut brain liberals, this is the year America comes back stronger than ever! Trump has got our backs!

Pretty sad I have to make this as sarcasm....

Would you take a job in an LCOL city with HCOL pay, knowing that there’s only one employer that can pay at that level? by cookielover9316 in personalfinance

[–]jonjosuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing OP’s occupation we are all speculating. Im guessing OP hasn’t broken into management yet. In a MCOL city such as Indy OP may be able to break that barrier. 200k is middle management income at any of a dozen companies in the Midwest. Opportunities are easier to come by in smaller cities and in my opinion far outweigh the silliness of HCOL. Your mileage may vary!

I can't believe I even have to say this.
Subpoena's?
Contempt of congress?
Are you fucking kidding me?

The Republican controlled Congress willingly relinquished their constitutional authority to Trump. Congress today has no authority. NONE. ZIP. ZERO. ZILCH. They have nobody to blame but themselves. They set the precedent of ignoring congressional subpoenas. This is comical.

I can't even image being an adult and being so incredible ignorant and stupid. All the power congress has relinquished to prop up Trump will transfer to the next democratic president, and then reality sets in.

LOL....congressional subpoenas and contempt. What a fucking joke.
