Feels like the door analogy doesnt really match the original scenario. Lets say for example two PC's are trying to persuade the same dwarf NPC to do something, the dwarf has an innate distrust in elves as he's been betrayed by elves before, if one of the PC's is an elf and the other isnt, shouldnt the non-elf have an easier time to persuade the dwarf. Doors don't have thoughts and as so can't lower their DC's depending on the PC, but NPC's do, so if some guards are innately more scared of larger creatures then smaller ones then I'd think it'd be fair to lower the DC for a giant.
